4 Role profile Job title: Reports to: Project Officer Diversity & Inclusion Programme Head of Diversity & Inclusion Overall Aim To support the Head of Diversity and Inclusion in the implementation of the Academy s diversity programme. Key Responsibilities 1. To manage logistics for the delivery of Academy Diversity events. 2. To arrange and support Academy Diversity & Inclusion meetings e.g. Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Group (DILG), D&I Committee, Progression Framework Steering Group, Engineering Engagement (EEP) Programme Steering Group. 3. Manage and refresh the diversity webpages and outward facing communication channels in partnership with the Academy Communication Team 4. To monitor and oversee implementation of the D&I Programme communication plan 5. To project manage delivery of D&I themed celebrations such as Black History Month and International Women in Engineering Day. 6. To act as first point of act for internal D&I issues 7. To gather and collate diversity and inclusion data related to the D&I Programme. 8. To monitor and oversee the diversity mail box and calendar. 9. To project manage the production of diversity and inclusion publications. 10.To provide additional support to education programmes where required. 11.To undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Head of Diversity and Inclusion and Engineering & Education Director. Key Results Maintaining close working relationships with key stakeholders in the domain: the professional engineering institutions, industry organisations, other professional bodies, the Royal Society, diversity committee members and other 3 rd sector diversity organizations Updating and maintaining of all external communications mediums such as the diversity website pages, LinkedIn and twitter in collaboration with the Academy Communications Team Ensure ongoing coordination of key communications activities to promote Academy s D&I work Providing advice and support delivery of internal departmental diversity and inclusion plans Contribute to and coordinate the collation of quantitative and qualitative D&I data to aid tracking progress against key performance indicators Coordinating resources and logistics for diversity and inclusion meetings and events such stakeholder meetings, EEP workshops, the annual programme event and other events as agreed Creation of a D&I calendar for communication internally and sharing externally.

Experience of managing complex, multi stakeholder projects. Experience of working to promote under-represented groups in engineering Experience of working with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learned societies and professional bodies. Experience of diversity work within organisations Knowledge of the role of engineering in society and the ability to communicate this clearly to others. Knowledge of the Academy s diversity work Skills A proven ability to work with senior stakeholders A proven ability to manage and track multiple activities concurrently Excellent organisational skills Project management skills Proven skills in written and oral communication. 6 Terms and conditions of employment Position Project Officer Diversity & Inclusion Programme Full time (36.25 hours) Location 3 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5DG Remuneration Up to 29,000 per annum Hours of work 9.15 am to 5.30 pm Flexible working hours The Academy operates a flexitime system that does not include clocking on and off at the beginning and end of each working day. However, timesheets are required to be completed. Provided that the core hours of 10.00am to 4.00pm are worked, flexibility is available in respect of the start and finish times. This flexibility is subject to the following conditions: A minimum of 7.25 hours per day must be worked. Flexible hours must be mutually agreed between the employee and the line manager. Flexible hours may be subject to review at any time.
7 Benefit Details Eligibility Annual Leave Pension Sick pay Subsidised restaurant facilities 25 days per annum increasing by 1 day each year up to a maximum of 5 days The Academy makes a 10% contribution. Staff may make voluntary contributions Sick pay entitlement is eight weeks full pay followed by 18 weeks at half pay, paid pro rata for part-time staff Available at the Royal Society s premises in Carlton House Terrace Season ticket loan An interest-free loan is available After six months Private medical insurance Health benefit cash plan Death in Scheme - group life assurance Group permanent health insurance Childcare vouchers Cycle to work scheme Employee assistance programme The Academy will pay for your individual membership. You may also choose to pay for additional family members. This benefit includes payment for dental, optical and chiropody In the event of the death of a member of staff the scheme will pay an amount equivalent to four times annual salary to a nominated next of kin If you are medically unfit and unable to return to work after 26 weeks, at the Academy s discretion, the Academy s income protection scheme will pay an amount equivalent to 75% of gross salary Childcare voucher scheme that enables you to save tax and national insurance by purchasing vouchers through a salary sacrifice scheme This enables you to save tax and national insurance by purchasing a bicycle through a salary sacrifice scheme A free confidential assistance programme that is provided to help you deal with everyday challenges in your home and working lives.
