Through our partnerships, expansion of our portfolio and own place own event participants we know we can offer our supporters a first-class experience enabling them to achieve more for our research. The Senior Sporting Events & Partnerships Manager (SSEPM) will be responsible for securing income from partners, individuals and groups through sporting events, effectively managing relationships to maximise income. They will be responsible for our 5-year parkrun and 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon partnership delivering impact and income through both partner and supporter engagement. The SSEPM will be accountable for planning, driving and evaluating Alzheimer s Research UKs sponsorship and partnership portfolio to drive maximum ROI and brand exposure from investment in this area. The SSEPM will have overall responsibility for the sporting event income for ARUK. Being responsible for all revenue generating activity and associated expenditure. Main tasks of role: Sporting Events Secure new brands, events and strategic partners to drive income and marketing opportunities for the charity around our sporting events portfolio. Provide market research and competitive analysis on key industry and sporting trends Develop and delivering systems and structures across the sporting events team to enable both effective day-to-day management and long-term strategic leadership. Oversee, lead and establish relationships with third party event providers that support the team s objectives. Explore new technologies to improve our communications and thanking of supporters in the way most relevant and appropriate way to them. Be an outward face of Alzheimer s Research UK attending industry events & representing our values and work To drive innovation in the team and ensure we are providing market leading experiences for our supporters. To work proactively across the charity to ensure that all fundraising opportunities and potential communications channels are maximised.

3 2. Team & Partnership Management Lead, inspire and develop a high performing Sporting Events team Ensure all team members have SMART objectives and development plans. Complete routine 1-1 meetings and annual appraisals. Embrace the ARUK values, celebrating exceptional performance whilst acting on underperformance. Manage all partner and agency relationships, from recommendations around partners to due diligence and contracts, and routine performance reviews and contract renewals. Maintain a consultative approach, listen attentively to partners to identify their business needs, and tailor partnerships to ensure it offers the correct mix of commercial benefits Management of a small pool of High Net Worth Individuals Work collaboratively across ARUK leading cross functional teams and activities 3. Strategy and planning With the support of the Director of Supporter-led Fundraising, lead the development of the overall sporting events & partnerships strategy to deliver exceptional market-leading sporting events, partnership and products to achieve further transformational growth. Play a key role in the development and application of the charities emerging CRM strategy, including audience segmentation, supporter journeys and optimisation of income opportunities. Lead the development of the Sporting Events annual Operational Plans, driving greater focus on scaling up the volume and value of supporters whilst maintaining great engagement and supporter experience. Maintain a flexible approach to investment to optimise in year contribution and longer-term return on investment. 4. Budget management and reporting Compile 5-year forecasts and annual budgets in line with annual operational planning across all sporting events, partnerships and products including scenario planning. Manage the team to deliver quarterly reforecasts, making recommendations around budget allocation and managing expectations throughout. Compile monthly reports for senior management, as well as inputting to quarterly trustee s reports. Working alongside the Digital and Data teams ensure engagement, acquisition and remittance is regularly monitored and evaluated (CPA, trend analysis and KPI tracking). Ensure end of event/campaign reports, learnings and actions for the future are routinely delivered by the team, with the Data Services Team and partners playing an active role. 5. Other duties Active involvement in the sector to ensure best practice Ensure activities comply with ARUK brand guidelines. Ensuring compliance, including understanding and application of the ARUK Vulnerable Persons Policy, compliance with the FR Codes of Fundraising Practice, compliance with Gambling Commission, HMRC, DMA and ICO guidance and legislation Undertake any other relevant duties and projects delegated by the Director of Supporter-led Fundraising in line with the responsibilities of the post. Essential Desirable Education Level Knowledge Educated to Degree Level or equivalent In-depth knowledge of the sporting fundraising market Knowledge of dementia or experience with a medical charity advantageous Skills Experience Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written An ability to manage a busy and varied workload Excellent organisational skills The ability to work with initiative, to take decisions and think creatively and strategically. Understanding of Fundraising Regulator (IOF) Codes of Practice and legal frameworks around GDPR, event management and fundraising ethics Proven experience of successful sporting events management Proven income delivery experience against ambitious targets Experience of meeting or exceeding financial and nonfinancial targets Experience of managing teams Experience of developing strategy and managing budgets Effective account management skills Good fundraising/crm database skills, preferably with Raiser s Edge Experience of event management and budget planning Negotiation skills and the ability to persuade and influence The ability to think and plan strategically, to develop and deliver the fundraising and strategy and, as part of the supporter-led directorate Experience of managing relationships with third party events providers (or similar) Experience of working with senior management. The ability to represent the charity internally and externally with confidence, diplomacy and authority High-value relationship management experience

We are a non-branched charity at an exciting stage of expansion and development. Our friendly, busy and dynamic office is based in Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge. We offer the following benefits 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pro-rated for new starters, part-time and annualised hour employees.
