5 3. Descriptin f the Little Blizzard TM The Little Blizzard TM Basic is CITC s mst basic evaprating snw effect prduct. Just hk up a bttle f fluid, turn it n and it makes snw. Flakes fly feet. 4. Safety Instructins WARNING: Read and understand all labels and perating instructins befre attempting installatin. Never pen the machine as this culd vid yur warranty! Risk f electrical shck- This device is supplied with a grunding cnductr. T reduce risk f electrical shck, cnnect nly t prperly grunded, grunding type receptacles. Never remve the third prng frm the plug. Depending n type f vltage rdered, this machine requires a 110VAC/20A circuit r a 230VAC/10A circuit fr peratin. The Little-Blizzard TM draws apprximately 10 amps at 110 VAC (5 amps at 230VAC). During Little-Blizzard TM peratin this circuit shuld be dedicated t the Little-Blizzard TM. If yu have any dubts abut the capacity r grunding f yur existing circuits, cnsult a qualified electrician. Be sure area arund snw machine is dry befre applying electrical pwer. Make sure that yur unit is pinted in a directin that leaves at least a 10ft (3m) pen area ut in frnt. Mre area is better. Place the frnt f the machine away frm direct cntact with electrical instruments and peple. Clse utput is wet. Never perate the pump withut fluid passing thrugh the tube. This culd cause the pump t verheat and damage the pistn. Operating the pump withut fluid is nt cvered under warranty. Fluid is very slippery when spilled. Care in keeping any drips r spills cleaned up is necessary. D nt stre Little-Blizzard TM in freezing cnditins. 4

6 5.1 Selecting the Lcatin 5. Operating the LITTLE-BLIZZARD TM Operate this machine in a level psitin, being sure the fluid bttle is nt ging t be abve the level f the machine. Un-level psitins may cause siphning r dripping. 5.2 Electrical Pwer Requirements Check fr prper electrical cnnectin n the rear f the machine. Be sure the circuit can prvide 10 amps at 110VAC (r 5 amps fr thse f yu that have purchased a 230VAC machine). 5.3 Hking things up Plug in crd t the receptacle n the Wireless Remte Transceiver. Plug the transceiver int a wall utlet r an utlet strip. 5

7 5.4 Selecting the fluid Fill the bttle with CITC s Little Blizzard TM Fluid, placing the tubing with the filter inside and at the bttm f the bttle. Use Extra Dry fluid fr quickest evaprating snw. Fr results that cause the snw t evaprate within secnds f tuching, use a Hurricane Fan t dry the water frm the flakes as they leave the machine. This als causes the snwflakes t stay airbrne lnger; creating a mre realistic falling snw that drifts and flats thrugh the air. Withut the use f a fan, the flakes will fall t the flr due t the heaviness f the water cntent and culd remain as a residue fr several minutes. Use Dry fluid fr lnger lasting snw when flying ver 45 feet r 15m. Use "Dry 100" fr falling snw ver 100' r 30m. 5.5 The 16-channel Wireless Remte (110VAC nly) Yur wireless remte cntrl system includes a key chain remte and transceiver (15 amps) that lets yu turn yur Little Blizzard TM n r ff by remte cntrl. Using the remte, yu can als cntrl a secnd X10 device (ptinal) which allws yu t cntrl anther instrument such as a fan. WIRELESS REMOTE INSTRUCTIONS: ON/OFF: The tp tw n/ff buttns n the Key Chain Remte cntrl the RTM75 Transceiver Mdule, turning the instrument plugged int the Transceiver n r ff. Althugh the Transceiver Mdule and Key Chain Remte cme frm the factry set t Cde A, if yu have a situatin where mre than ne X10 unit is in peratin at the same time, yu can change the Remte and Transceiver Mdule cmb t perate n any f the 16 Cdes (letters A thru P). CODE: T change the Cde n the Transceiver, simply take a flat blade screwdriver and turn the dial n the frnt f the unit t the desired channel. Transceiver A O C M E K G I 6

8 Changing the Cde n the Key Chain Remte is a bit mre cmplicated. 1) Press and hld the first (tp) ON buttn. The red LED blinks nce. Three secnds later, the LED blinks the current setting: 1 blink fr Cde A, 2 blinks fr B.. 16 blinks fr P. 2) Release the first (tp) ON buttn. 3) Press and release the first (tp) ON buttn the apprpriate numbers f times fr the Cde yu want t set. Once fr A, twice fr B, etc. The LED blinks fr each press. IMPORTANT: Hld the buttn n yur last press. Three secnds later, the red LED blinks back the new setting, e.g. 3 blinks fr Cde C. If yu d nt fllw this prgramming sequence, the LED will stay n fr 1 secnd and yur existing setting will nt be changed. BATTERY: T change the battery in the Key Chain Remte, pry the unit apart and fit a CR2025 Lithium 3V battery. Carefully bserve plarity. 5.6 Operating the machine Start the machine by turning n the Wireless Remte Transceiver and the pwer switch, which is lcated n the back f the Little Blizzard. This switch will illuminate when pwer is turned n. Place a lng distance fan (Hurricane Fan) under r clse t the Little Blizzard TM fr blwing the snw in an upward r utward mvement. Use f a fan is highly recmmended even if a shrt distance. Fan air and falling snw shuld meet inches (50cm 75cm) in frnt f the Little Blizzard TM. The snw cming frm the machine will fall int the draft f the upward air mvement and start t fly the directin the fan is pinted. The fan air will als cause the snwflakes t dry while it is traveling 30 feet (10m) r mre. Never have the fan behind the Little Blizzard TM blwing at it. This will cause a back draft and create the wrng effect. 5.7 Rest Perid & Temperature f Fluid The blwer in the machine nw can perate up t 15 minutes befre needing a 5 t 10 minute cling dwn perid. Nte: Test the air cming frm the frnt f the machine. If after 15 minutes the air is nt ht, yu may be in a cl envirnment that is cnducive t running the Little Blizzard TM fr lnger perids. Fluid shuld be 75 F (26 C)+. Never use cld fluid. 5.8 Shut dwn When finished with the machine, clean the tube and pump with water, always leaving water in the tube and pump t prevent xidatin. This will keep the pump pistn frm becming stuck and keep the valves perating. D nt run the pump withut fluid passing thrugh the tube. This will cause the pump t becme ht and culd damage pump (nt cvered by Limited Warranty). Leaving clean water in the pump will help keep ut xidatin. 7

9 5.8 Trubleshting 1. If the pump des nt draw fluid If the pump des nt draw fluid int the unit, be sure the tubing is in the fluid, nt abve the fluid. Check electrical pwer t the machine. Hld up tubing, remve filter and push, blw r use a turkey baster t frce the fluid inside the pump. Try again t see if it will pump nw. Check t hear any sund cming frm the pump side (nearest the tp). A slight vibrating sund shuld be heard if the pump is pumping fluid. A lud kncking sund will be heard if nly air is in the line and fluid has nt cme in yet. Frce fluid thrugh the line t get it started. This is called priming and the line needs t be full f fluid fr the fg mechanism t wrk. Nte: d nt run the pump withut fluid passing thrugh the tube fr lnger than a few secnds at a time while priming the pump. This will cause the pump t becme ht and culd damage the pistn. This is nt cvered under warranty. 6. Service and Maintenance Care f yur Little-Blizzard TM will give yu years f service. Nte: cleaning yur unit is ging t pay ff in cnstant gd perfrmance. 1. Each 50 hurs f peratin r when finished with the machine, clean the tube and pump with water, always leaving water in the tube and pump t prevent xidatin. This will keep the pump pistn frm becming stuck and keep the valves perating. D nt run the pump withut fluid passing thrugh the tube. 11 8. Limited Warranty Cnditins fr the LITTLE-BLIZZARD TM BASIC 1. Subject t the fllwing cnditins we will repair any defect r fault in the unit if it is caused by a prven factry fault and has been advised immediately after appearance and within 30 days f delivery t the end user. Insignificant deviatins f the regular prduct quality des nt guarantee replacement rights, nr d faults r defects caused by water, by generally abnrmal envirnment cnditins r Frce Majeure. 2. Limited Warranty Service will be dne in the fllwing way: Faulty parts will be repaired r replaced (ur chice) with crrect parts. Faulty units have t be shipped t us r sent t us at custmer s expense. The RMA# has t cme with the faulty unit. 3. The custmer lses all rights fr limited warranty services, if any repairs r adjustments are dne t the units by unauthrized persns and/r if spare parts are used, which are nt apprved by us. The right f limited warranty service is als lst if a fluid ther than CITC Little Blizzard TM Fluid has been used r if units are sent t us with full fluid bttles. Als nn-cmpliance with the instructins in this manual r mistakes by incrrect handling/treating f the machine, any faults and damages caused by undue frce will lead t a lss f limited warranty. 4. Freight csts t CITC when under the limited warranty services are the respnsibility f the custmer. CITC will pay freight upn return. 5. Limited warranty services d nt cause an extensin f the limited warranty time r the start f a new limited warranty time. The warranty f replaced parts ends with the limited warranty time f the whle unit. 6. If a defect/fault can nt be repaired by us in a satisfactry time, we will, within 30 days after sale f the unit, ur chice either:! Replace the whle unit fr free r! Refund the lesser value r! Take back the whle unit and refund the purchase price, but nt mre that the usual market price at the time f refund. 7. Further claims, especially fr damages, lsses etc. utside the unit are excluded. 10
