1 CRUSE BEREAVEMENT CARE CYMRU JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Project Manager Location: Cruse Head Office (Caerphilly, Wales) SALARY: 26,044 Hours: 35 hours per week Responsible to: Director of Cruse Cymru MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: To successfully lead, plan, manage and deliver bereavement projects in line with agreed project plans and targets including a pilot project providing support for bereaved family and friends of those who have been in the care of Marie Curie nursing and Helper services in Wales, ensuring rapid assessment of need and fast-track referral to appropriate support services. Co-ordinate objectives across teams and secure involvement of volunteers and external stakeholders in order to deliver projects within agreed timescales. Work collaboratively with partner organisations and stakeholders to deliver project aims. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and deliver all day-to-day operational aspects of identified Cruse projects. Monitor and report on agreed budget expenditure. Design and deliver work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Work collaboratively with all external and internal Project Managers to achieve successful outcomes and meet the aims of the project. Communicate project briefings and Area requirements throughout the Cruse Network. Work with and secure the involvement of the Cruse Supporters and external stakeholders in order to successfully fulfil the bereavement support needs of the Marie Curie community. Responsible for all data input to the Cruse Information System (CIS), production of ongoing data collection, monitoring and reporting. 1

2 Ensure all relevant data, documents and reports are current, complete and appropriately stored and secured. Submit project status reports to line Manager and other relevant stakeholders as required. Identify lessons learnt from the collaboration, and address how this way of working can be rolled out and implemented across other geographical areas. Monitor and report on agreed budget expenditure. Work with and secure the involvement of the Cruse volunteers, supporters and external stakeholders in order to successfully fulfil the bereavement support needs of bereaved people. Adhere to all Cruse Policies, Procedures and Standards. Undertake such other duties and tasks as may lie within the scope of this post to ensure the effective management and delivery and development of Cruse support services. Projects, Policy and Best Practice Contribute to the development, review and implementation of organisational policies, procedures and practice. Contribute to the development and promotion of best practice in areas relevant to allocated responsibilities. Ensure the needs of under-represented groups are considered in all aspects of the project. Volunteering Assist with the recruitment of volunteers, and training, deployment and supervision of sufficient community volunteers to support the projects. Ensure the appropriate involvement of Cruse volunteers in all aspects of project planning, delivery and development. Ensure provision of appropriate support to the project volunteers in the Cruse network. Promotion Promote and represent Cruse at relevant Forums, external events and meetings. Participate in relevant media responses where appropriate. Specific Tasks for Cruse service delivery to Marie Curie community Act as the main contact for the Pilot project in Wales. Liaise with Marie Curie Project Manager to progress all aspects of the delivery of bereavement support service Answer all client contact through a dedicated Referral line and perform an initial Client Assessment. 2

3 In line with terms of the Contract with Marie Curie and Cruse Standards, assess and fast track within agreed timescales to deliver appropriate support. Liaise closely with Cruse Cymru Areas (staff and Volunteers) to ensure an efficient transfer to suitable methods of support to appropriate Bereavement Volunteers throughout the Cruse network. Further develop and implement plans for the delivery of the project to deliver bereavement support to family, friends and carers whose loved ones have received support from Marie Curie community nursing service and Marie Curie Helper service. Other Attend committees, convene meetings and be self administering. Work to identify barriers to access and ensure diversity in all aspects of service development, including contributing to review of equality and diversity policies. Participate in the work of the Service & Development Team nationally. Provide weekend/out of hours management cover as required. Undertake such other duties and tasks as may lie within the scope of this post and ensure the effective delivery and development of Cruse Bereavement Care s services. 4 Cruse Bereavement Care Person Specification Project Manager Experience Project Management (within an organisational setting). Delivering projects to desired outcomes and within quality, time and costs. Working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes. Developing and implementing operational plans including setting and meeting targets and key performance indicators and producing management reports. Managing bereavement services and/or supporting bereaved people. Working with groups of the population who are traditionally marginalised from decision making processes and access to service. Providing counselling by traditional methods and by telephone/ support. Training. Supporting families in crisis. Providing support to bereaved people. Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of the ethos and values of the Voluntary Sector and needs of volunteers. Good knowledge and understanding of the impact of bereavement on peoples lives. Knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies and their use in providing support services. Knowledge of the needs and issues of bereaved people. Skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Training and presentation skills. Ability to work within a team, both as a leader and member of a team and to inspire and motiviate others. 4

5 Ability to use appropriate project management tools, skills and techniques to ensure successful delivery of outcomes through effective use of resources. Ability to network effectively and make successful links, alliances and partnerships. Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft Office). Proficient in the use of telephony, websites, and social media. Ability to prioritise work in a demanding work environment with challenging project targets. Ability to produce high quality monitoring information and the ability to evaluate services. Ability to function appropriately in an environment where bereavement issues are constantly under discussion. Prince 2. Assessment skills. Personal Attributes Willingness to travel to meetings throughout the UK which may involve overnight stays. Ability to work regular evenings and some weekends. 5
