1 JOB DESCRIPTION Project Manager: Data, Insight & Knowledge Location: Reporting To: Hours: Contract: Nene Hall, Lynch Wood Park, Peterborough Head of Insight & Engagement 37.5 hours per week Fixed term contract 18 months Job Summary: This newly created role will lead a programme of work to maximize the use of data, insight and knowledge across Kidney Research UK. Within this programme are 3 key projects that the role will deliver: Developing our Business Information Maximising the capture and use of our data Knowledge management and potential knowledgebank This is a hands on role, not only coordinating the efforts of others but providing and implementing solutions directly. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that business intelligence is captured using the right tools and systems and is readily available to inform planning, decision making and campaigns and communications. They will also play a key role in the data protection project ensuring any new data practices are compliant. A core element of the role will be the translation of project deliverables into core activity including recommendation of how to maintain and resource the activity beyond the life of the projects. Specific responsibilities Leadership & strategy: 1. Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of the project and coordinating the work of the project team. 2. Review and define the scope of assigned projects. 3. Recommending and implementing the transition of projects into core activity. Page 1 of 5
2 Departmental & Operational In conjunction with key stakeholders, develop an effective data management procedure that supports the use and efficient re-use of information to feed management reporting and inform decision making. E.g. Business rules, Dashboards, planning activities etc. Establish data management to support multiple stakeholder monthly reporting requirements. Play a key role within the existing data protection project to ensure our data practices are compliant. Implement systems to maximise the re-use of information and ease reporting requirements. Implement procedures and practice to support the role out of best use of data and management information. Capture and translate the projects underlying key processes into workflow tools to enable the adoption of repeatable processes and continuous improvements. Maintain compliance with the existing project management framework (planning, risks/issues, status reporting), processes & procedures. The above list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and may change to meet the needs of the organisation. The post-holder may also be required to carry out such other duties as may be required from time to time which are broadly consistent with the status of the post within the organisation. 3 Experience Knowledge of customer or supporter databases Proven project Management experience Use of Raiser s Edge database Previous experience of Data & Analytics projects data models, data management strategy, dashboards, building a data repository & data visualisation tools. Good understanding of the interdependencies that will exist between projects Experience of working with third party suppliers during the design and build of data solutions. Experience working with customer or supporter databases Skills and Abilities Ability to oversee multiple projects work streams across boundaries and to different audiences ensuring priorities are not compromised. Managing project change ensuring the deliverables still align to the objectives. Ability to lead by example and Page 3 of 5
4 communicate in an inspiring and motivational manner. Adept at managing multiple processes Able to analyse information and communicate results effectively. Good verbal and written communicator Familiarity with the principles of relationship databases and experience of database management Personal Attributes/Qualities Calm and highly organised Pragmatic, able to cope with peaks and troughs in workload Influential and assertive; able to obtain results through others not under direct control. Energetic and goal focused. Must possess an analytical mind. Passionate about the value of customer/supporter data why it should be kept securely and how it can transform activity.
