About the position: Reporting to the ICT Solution Delivery Manager, the Senior Business Systems Analyst will provide advice and guidance to business stakeholders on system changes that will deliver process and operational improvements. You will lead the collection, analysis and documentation of requirements and produce functional and technical specifications for system changes. Your key accountabilities will include but not be limited to: Provide input to solution designs for system enhancements and changes. Develop processes and documentation to support the collection and definition of solution requirements. Identify the best approach for eliciting business requirements based on the stakeholder environment. Analyse business requirements and develop functional and technical specifications required for system changes. Lead the delivery of selected business improvement opportunities. Key qualities for success: Benefits focused approach to developing and delivering innovative system improvements. Proven experience as a system focused Business Analyst from requirements taking all the way through the lifecycle producing functional specifications and any other required documentation. A tertiary degree is required, with a degree in Information Technology being highly regarded, coupled with certification in ITL or BABOK (or similar) Knowledge and use of various Project Management Frameworks and methodologies, particularly Waterfall, Agile (Scrum) and Prince2. Experience using process flow diagrams to define business process, BPMN and UML highly regarded. Strong understanding of Business System Analysis processes, methodologies, tools and deliverables. Your Opportunity The ICT Solutions Delivery section is part of the ICT Branch and incorporates the Business Systems Analysis and IT Project Delivery functions. The team provide end to end delivery of technology solutions and are responsible for the planning, scheduling and implementation of IT projects and system enhancements. The team works closely with strategic vendor partners and programs to deliver IT solutions that meet the needs of the business in a timely and cost effective manner. The Senior Business Systems Analyst role understands both the business process and supporting system functionality and provides advice and guidance to business stakeholders and system user groups on system changes that will deliver process and operational improvements. The role leads the collection, analysis and documentation of business requirements and produces functional and technical specifications for system changes. You will also develop test and quality assurance plans for changes and enhancements to ensure that business requirements have been met. 3 Your Accountabilities Key functions of the role include: Provide input to solution designs for system enhancements and changes Develop processes and documentation to support the collection and definition of business requirements Identify the best approach for eliciting business requirements based on the stakeholder environment e.g. interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases etc. Produce concise and accurate business requirements that include the As Is and To Be business process Ensure business requirements are traceable from definition through to system change implementation Analyse business requirements and develop functional and technical specifications required for system changes and enhancements Ensure functional and technical specifications are provided in sufficient detail to enable external service providers to deliver system changes Report on the status and progress of systems analyst activities Establish and implement an agile and responsive engagement model for system user groups and other business stakeholders Promote understanding of BSA function within Unitywater Advocate the needs of business stakeholders in the design, development and implementation of system enhancements Maintain a knowledge of new technologies and current trends in system and application development Ensuring that what is delivered is innovative, fit for purpose, adheres to architectural and functional standards and aligns to defined scope Design test plans for system enhancements and changes Establish automated and repeatable testing scenarios Meet or exceed agreed timelines for business system analyst deliverables Provide advice and guidance to Business Systems Analysts in best practice principles including analysis methodologies and documentation techniques Participate in Unitywater safety audits and inspections to demonstrate visible safety leadership and participation. Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the skill and knowledge requirements for this position. 4 Your Qualities Mandatory requirements of this role: Tertiary qualification in Information Technology ITIL Certification (or similar) BABOK certification (highly regarded) Knowledge of the AGILE framework and underlying methodologies (either commercial or conceptual); Experience in using BPMN to define business processes Excellent understanding of Business Systems Analysis processes, methodologies, tools and deliverables; A genuine customer and service focus; Highly competent communication, negotiation, networking and interpersonal skills Excellent facilitation skills (both individual and group facilitation) Ability to present and articulate information using a variety of verbal, written and visual methods to a diverse range of audiences Ability to work with people at all levels. Superior analytical abilities Capacity to or experience in mentoring staff. SME systems or business process knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Asset Management, GIS, EDRMS, Internet and Intranet, Systems Integration, Business Intelligence Microsoft product skills: Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint; Knowledge of flow charting, data mapping and other structured analysis and modelling tools, and techniques (UML) e.g. Activities diagrams, Sequence Diagrams.
