If Ravn Alaska is unable t cllect fr the charges the SHIPPER is ultimately liable. Certain restrictin apply. What is C.O.D.? C.O.D. Cash n Delivery. Ravn Alaska des nt ffer this service. T avid any cnfusin, COLLECT service will still be ffered; hwever Ravn Alaska will n lnger be able t cllect C.O.D. mnies due the shipper at the time f delivery. What are pre-paid charges? The shipper is t pay the transprtatin charges. This can be with any frm f payment acceptable by Ravn Alaska. What is minimum charge? The lwest rate applicable n each type f air carg n matter hw small the shipment. Shipments weighing less than the lwest published pivt weight are subject t the weight and rate specified at the weight break. What is versize? Any shipment that has tw dimensins exceeding 48 inches is cnsidered versize. Items with a single measurement f 48 inches r mre and ne f the ther tw measurements is 24 inches r mre r the length exceeds 96 inches (8 feet) irrespective f any ther measurements. As an example a 2 X 4 stud 52 inches lng, 3 ½ inches wide and 1 ½ inches high. It is nt versize even thugh the length exceeds 48 inches because neither f the ther tw dimensins are mre than 24 inches. Hwever a duble size bed that is 75 inches by 54 inches by 12 inches is versize due t the length f 75 inches AND the width f 54 inches. What is Shipper s Risk? A shipment nt sufficiently package t prevent damage t the shipment. Ravn Alaska shall nt be respnsibility fr damage. Shipper s Risk will be recrded n the air waybill. Page 1 f 12

2 Standard Rate Standard rate carg is the lwest cst alternative fr shipments that are nt particularly time sensitive. Services will be n a space-available basis. Please allw three t five days fr arrival. Standard carg mves after the accmmdatin f passengers, baggage, pririty mail, Ravn RUSH and pririty carg. Pririty Rate Pririty rate carg is fr time sensitive shipments that take pririty ver Standard Rate Carg. Pririty rate carg mves after the accmmdatin f passengers, baggage, pririty mail and Ravn RUSH shipments. Ravn Rush Ravn RUSH is ur highest pririty and gives custmers the ability t ship sensitive packages n the next available flight f up t 100 punds per piece. Ravn RUSH is available t any f the fllwing lcatins: Anchrage, Aniak, Barrw, Bethel, Crdva, Deadhrse, Emmnak, Fairbanks, Galena, Hmer, Kenai, Kdiak, Ktzebue, Nme, Saint Mary s, Unalakleet, and Valdez. Nte: Ravn Rush packages must be tendered ne hur befre a scheduled flight and can be picked up ne hur after the scheduled flight has landed. In islated circumstances, the next available flight may be limited in capacity fr carg and alternatives may be presented. N Carg Aircraft Only Hazardus Materials will be accepted and n single dimensin may exceed 70 inches. The utside length, width and height may nt exceed 90 inches. As with all carg shipments, Ravn RUSH packages are accepted and sent frm the freight ffice, srry we dn t have cunter t cunter services. Other restrictins may apply. What is declared value fr carriage? A value f the shipment, as determined and declared in writing by the shipper (r his agent), and fr which a fee f $0.50 per $ f the declared value is charged by the air carrier. If the shipper declares n value declared (NVD) then the air carrier s liability is limited by its cntract f carriage. What type f Insurance is available? Insurance may be purchased fr mst items shipped fr $1.00 per $ f cverage r declared value f $0.50 per $ f value. What is chargeable weight? The weight used in determining the air freight charges. It culd be the actual weight, dimensinal weight, r pivted weight. Page 2 f 12

3 What are Acceptable Frms f Payment fr Ravn Alaska? Every air waybill must be supprted by evidence f payment fr the sale. Evidence may be: Cash r its equivalent Traveler s checks Mney rders Persnal and business checks Gvernment Bills f Lading (GBL) Credit cards Credit Cards Accepted MasterCard VISA Discver Card Can I ship flwers r fruit? Cut flwer shipments shall be labeled as such and must be handled and laded in a manner t prevent bruising r freezing f blssms. It is the shipper s respnsibility t adequately package all perishable shipments t withstand nrmal handling and 48 hurs withut refrigeratin. Nn- cmmercial shipments f perishable gds shipped by individuals must be prepaid. Hw d I file a claim fr missing r damaged carg? All claims must be made t Ravn Alaska in writing, within 90 days after the date f acceptance f the shipment by the cnsignee. Exceptins: Claims fr hidden damage and / r lss, discvered by the cnsignee after a clear delivery receipt, must be reprted t the destinatin statin within 15 days after delivery f the shipment. Claims fr vercharges must be made in writing within 90 days f receipt f billing. The cnsignee must hld the shipping cntainer, packaging and cntents in the same cnditin as when damage and / r lss was discvered, fr pssible inspectin by Ravn Alaska. All transprtatin charges must be paid prir t claim cnsideratin by Ravn Alaska. A claim will be cnsidered, withut payment f transprtatin charges, nly when the cnsignee did nt receive any part f the shipment. Shipping Seafd Shipper's Respnsibility It is the shipper's respnsibility t package all perishable shipments. T maximize freshness and quality, the prduct must be able t withstand a minimum f 48 hurs in transit until pickup, withut refrigeratin. The fllwing acceptance standards cmply with general regulatins f all majr carriers. Page 3 f 12

4 Packaging Freeze r chill seafd thrughly befre packaging fr best final destinatin temperature. Select durable, watertight packaging, preferably with insulatin. Sturdy metal r hard plastic camping clers r cmmercially manufactured seafd shipping bxes are preferred. Seafd Bxes Standard seafd shipping bxes prvide easy handling, better stacking capability and allw fr maximum cubic space capacity. If multi-walled, full waxed crrugated (e.g. wet-lck) bxes are used, the cntents must be sealed in n 4-mil plyethylene liner (r tw 2-mil liners) t prevent leakage. Styrfam liners maybe used inside plyethylene liners fr additinal insulatin and prtectin frm punctures caused by bnes r fins. Previusly used cntainers are nt acceptable. Cntainers must be sealed r secured with strapping tape, r a similar material. Styrfam clers r bxes are nt accepted by Ravn Alaska. Air freight cntainers (EO, EH r E) are nt accepted fr shipping seafd. Gel ice packs are recmmended t hld perishables at prper temperatures. Wet ice is nt allwed. Dry ice is the preferred ptin fr freezing perishables. Each cntainer must be clearly marked with the wrds "DRY ICE" and the quantity f dry ice. Mre than 5.5 punds requires the prcessing f Dangerus Gds dcumentatin. High standards f packaging n all seafd shipments must be maintained. Leakage must be prevented at all times. Seafd shipments must be packed t withstand: Stacking up t six feet high. Pressure frm adjacent carg. Crushing actin f tie-dwn straps. Manual handling. Expsure t the elements between the aircraft and carg terminal facilities. Ttes Plastic tubs r ttes with leak-prf lids can be used fr shipping sme seafd prducts (e.g. live crab). Cntainers with drain plugs shall nt be accepted. Empty ttes tendered fr shipment must be cleaned prir t acceptance. Piece cunt n the empty tte air waybill shuld indicate tw pieces (cntainer plus lid) fr each tte. Page 4 f 12

5 Labeling / Marking All cntainers f seafd and wildlife (including shellfish) being shipped interstate must be marked accrding t the 1988 Lacey Act. A Fish/Wildlife sticker may be used by the shipper t prvide required infrmatin. The fllwing six items t be prminently displayed n each shipment: Name and address f shipper and cnsignee, r passenger. 24-hur phne number f the cnsignee r passenger. Cmmdity nte as Fish r Wildlife. Specifies species name: such as King Salmn, Mse, Caribu, and Silver Salmn. Number f each species r the weight f each type species. Each cntainer must be marked Live, Fresh r Frzen. Weight Limitatins All seafd is limited t a maximum f 100 lbs per piece. Carrier Acceptance Cmpliance with the Lacey Act and its packaging requirements are mandatry. Cntainers must be free f leaks and drs. Carrier Prcedures and Facilities We have clers and freezers at many f ur facilities. Every effrt will be made t accmmdate perishable shipments in clers while waiting recvery. Hwever, due t high shipping vlumes, limitatins f facilities and ther variables, we cannt guarantee that yur shipment will be refrigerated. Perishables shuld be picked up as quickly as pssible upn arrival at destinatin. Any prblem r cncern must be reprted immediately t a representative f the airline. Carrier Liability Carg - We d nt assume financial liability fr spilage, thawing, r freezing t delay in rute, unless there is clear evidence f mishandling r negligence. Carg Insurance - All-Risk carg insurance is available fr carg shipments. All-Risk insurance des nt cver thawing, freezing, r spilage resulting frm delay in transit. Payments fr Seafd Shipments We d nt accept COD (Cash n Delivery) payments. Nn-cmmercial perishable gds must be prepaid. Shipping Animals Originating statin shuld be cntacted 24 hurs befre shipping t check availability and flight ruting t ensure same day cnnectins t destinatin. 1. Animals must fit the kennel size. All animals must be able t stand up fully erect and lk straight ahead withut their head tuching the tp f the kennel. Page 5 f 12

6 2. Animals mush be at least 8 weeks ld. 3. Kennels mush be airline apprved and have riginal fasteners r fasteners that exceed the riginals. Kennel that are damaged will nt be accepted. 4. All animal shipment require a fd dish and a water dish. 5. Fd and water must be ffered within 4 hurs f flight departure. 6. N mre than ne live puppy (8 weeks t 6 mnth f age, and weighing ver 20 punds) may be transprted in a kennel. 7. N mre than tw live puppies r kittens, (8 weeks t 6 mnth f age, that are f cmparable size, and weighing 20 punds r less each) may be transprted in the same kennel. 8. The statement (Nt respnsible fr death due t natural causes) shuld be put in the remarks sectin n the airway bill. 9. If available, the name f the animal shuld be attached t the kennel. What is the difference between Dimensinal Weight vs. Actual Weight? Our standard is based n carg with a density f 10 punds per cubic ft f size. If yur shipment weighs 10 punds per cubic ft r mre, the charges are based n the actual (r scale) weight. When yur shipment weighs less than 10 punds per cubic ft, the charges are based n its dimensinal weight. Nt nly air, but mtr carriers' "class" rates and even cean carriers' "cmmdity" rates are based n whichever weight (actual r dimensinal) is greater. By using the fllwing example, yu can determine the chargeable weight f yur shipments by using yur actual size and weight figures: STEP 1: Multiply shipment dimensins t btain ttal cubic inches. (L x W x H = Ttal cubic inches, e.g. 20" x 10" x 15" = 3000"). STEP 2: Divide ttal cubic inches by 194 t determine dimensinal weight. (3000 / 194 = punds) STEP 3: Chargeable Weight equals either the actual weight r dimensinal weight, whichever is greater. What is chargeable weight? Will my shipment be rated by dimensin r weight? The weight used in determining the air freight charges. It culd be the actual weight, dimensinal weight, r pivted weight. Are there any shipping restrictins t be aware f? Lithium Battery Infrmatin As with all Hazardus Materials/Dangerus Gds, crrect declaratin, classificatin, packaging, marking and labeling are designated as yur respnsibility as a shipper by the Federal Hazardus Material Regulatins, (Title 49 f the Cde f Federal Regulatins) and Dangerus Gds (IATA Internatinal Air Transprt Assciatin) and must always be fully declared and prepared in accrdance with all applicable air transprtatin regulatins. 7 IATA Sectin I r IA Lithium Batteries Lithium batteries that fall int Internatinal Air Transprtatin Assciatin (IATA) Sectin I r IA f the apprpriate packing instructins are fully regulated and require a Shipper's Declaratin f Dangerus Gds. IATA Sectin IB Lithium Batteries Lithium batteries that fall int Sectin IB f IATA Packing Instructin 965 r 968 are nw fully regulated and require a Shipper's Declaratin fr Dangerus Gds. Fllw all dangerus gds shipping prcedures. IATA Sectin II Lithium Batteries The Fllwing infrmatin is fr Lithium batteries that meet the requirements f Sectin II f the apprpriate packing instructins in the IATA Dangerus Gds Regulatins. Lithium Batteries that d nt meet these requirements must be tendered as a fully regulated dangerus gds. Exceptin: One r tw devices such as cell phnes r laptps with batteries cntained in equipment that have less than the watt hur (lithium in) r grams (lithium metal) allwed d nt require the transprt dcument r the lithium battery handling label and maybe tendered as nn-dangerus gds. (See IATA Packing Instructin 967 r 970). Nte: Any shipments via ur interline partners must be pre-apprved, please cntact Carg Custmer Care at Packages cntaining lithium batteries and cells must cmply with specific packaging requirements in Sectin II, f the IATA Dangerus Gds Regulatins, in additin: Each cell r battery must be f the type prven t meet the requirements f each test in the UN Manual f Tests and Criteria, Part III, subsectin (Batteries and cells manufactured befre January 01, 2014 cnfrming t the 5th revised editin f that manual may cntinue t be transprted.) Cells and batteries must be manufactured under a quality management prgram as described in IATA DGR (e). Cells and batteries must incrprate a safety venting device r are designed t preclude a vilent rupture under cnditins nrmally incident t air transprt. Cells and batteries identified by the manufacturer as being defective fr safety reasns, r that have been damaged, having the ptential t prducing a dangerus evlutin f heat, fire r shrt circuit are frbidden. (fr example being returned t the manufacturer fr safety reasns). Waste lithium batteries, being shipped fr recycling r dispsal are frbidden, withut special apprval. Cells and batteries must be prtected t prevent shrt circuits. This includes prtectin against cntact with cnductive materials (such as metal bjects r tls) within the same packaging that culd lead t a shrt circuit. Each battery cntaining cells r series f cells cnnected in parallel must be equipped with an effective means as necessary t prevent dangerus reverse current flw, such as dides, fuses, etc. In additin t these general requirements, individual cells may nt have a watt-hur rating greater than 20 and batteries may nt have a watt-hur rating greater than 100. This watt-hur rating pertains t lithium-in and includes lithium-plymer (rechargeable) batteries. Fr nn-rechargeable (primary) lithium-metal batteries, nly small cells and batteries are allwed fr carriage under Sectin II. The limit is 1 gram fr cells, and 2 grams fr batteries f lithium metal cntent. Cnsult with yur battery manufacturer fr technical data t cnfirm Page 7 f 12

8 lithium cntent befre tendering as carg. Nte: Many lithium metal batteries are frbidden n passenger carrying aircraft and must be s marked. All cells and batteries must be packed in strng uter packages. The package must: Be capable f withstanding a 1.2 m (3-ft) drp test in any rientatin withut damage t the cells r batteries that are cntained inside. Prevent shifting f the cntents that allws battery-t-battery r cell-t-cell cntact. In certain cases, the lithium battery handling label may be required. See individual packing Instructins in the IATA DGR fr details. In additin, an IATA Sectin II Lithium Battery Transprt Dcument must be cmpleted by the shipper. Nte: The infrmatin entered n the IATA Sectin II Lithium Battery Transprt Dcument may als be presented by the shipper n a similar dcument. The accunting department can be cntacted at When d strage charges begin? Charges begin 72 hurs after shipment arrives. Exceptin: Des nt include Sundays, legal r state hlidays. When the cnsignee cannt be ntified by telephne, charges begin when an Airfreight Ntice is made via phne/ /us mail. Charges shall be $2.00 per 100 punds (r any fractin theref) per day, with a $20.00 minimum ttal. Hw much des it cst t ship Dangerus Gds? In additin t all ther applicable transprtatin charges, a separate hazmat fee f $25.00 shall apply fr all shipments that cntain Dangerus Gds cntaining ne UN/ID number. Shipping Dangerus Gds? At Ravn Alaska, we accept hazardus materials in accrdance with the ICAO/IATA (Internatinal Civil Aviatin Organizatins / Internatinal Air Transprt Assciatin) & CFR 49 (Cde f Federal Regulatins 49 Transprtatin). What are the marking and labeling requirements fr Dangerus Gds? General The shipper shall mark and label all packages and verpacks in accrdance with regulatins. CFR 49 r IATA/ICAO regulatins as applicable The package r item must be f a size t adequately affix all required markings, labels and dcumentatin. Markings and labeling shuld be lcated n the same surface f the package, near Page 8 f 12

9 each ther, unless required therwise by the regulatins. Markings All markings must be durable, clear, and easy t read. Markings fr Overpacks Each package within an verpack must be marked and labeled as if it were being sent individually. All markings and labeling must be reprduced n the utside f the verpack. Exceptin: If markings and labels fr each item cntained in the verpack are visible frm the utside f the verpack, then n additinal marking / labeling is required. When packages cntained within the verpack require specificatin packaging, the statement Inner Packages Cmply with Prescribed Specificatins must appear n the utside f the verpack. Additinal Markings fr Dry Ice Fr dry ice (Carbn Dixide, Slid), the net weight f the dry ice and the name f the cntents being cled within each package must be marked n the utside f the package. Labeling Hazard labels - Identify the primary and subsidiary hazards f the dangerus gds. Must bear the class r divisin number as required. Handling labels - May be required t indicate the fllwing: Carg Aircraft Only Magnetized Material Crygenic Liquid Package Orientatin Arrws (up arrws) Label Placement All labels must be securely affixed r printed n the packaging fr ready visibility. When primary and subsidiary risk labels are required they must be displayed adjacent t each ther. The package must be f sufficient size s that the entire label is displayed. A label cannt verlap itself. When required, Carg Aircraft Only label must be affixed adjacent t the hazard label(s). Prcess fr Dangerus Gds Transprtatin As a shipper f dangerus gds, crrect declaratin, classificatin, packaging, marking and labeling are yur respnsibility as designated by the Federal Hazardus Material Regulatins (Title 49 f the Cde f Federal Regulatins). Dangerus Gds must always be fully declared and prepared in accrdance with all applicable Federal air transprtatin regulatins. When required, the shipper shall prepare a Dangerus Gds shipment in accrdance with applicable regulatins ICAO/IATA Dangerus Gds Regulatins. Nte: Federal Regulatins may require Hazardus Material Training t prepare a Hazardus material shipment fr air transprt. IATA When applicable the shipper shall present a shipment t Ravn Alaska with tw cpies f Page 9 f 12

10 the required Shipper's Declaratin cmpleted, signed, dated and in the crrect frmat. Nt all dangerus gds require a Shipper's Declaratin r specific packaging. Please cnsult the current editin f the IATA DGR fr specific infrmatin. Shipments cntaining Lithium Batteries must have a Lithium Battery Transprt Dcument when nt accmpanied with a Shipper's Declaratin. Refer t Lithium Battery Infrmatin Prper packaging, marking and labeling with the crrect paperwrk in accrdance with the Regulatins, must be cmpleted prir t shipping. If a shipment and accmpanying paperwrk is nt prepared crrectly accrding t all applicable regulatins, the shipment will nt be accepted fr carriage. Shipments must be in prper cnditin fr air transprt; damaged, leaking r imprper packaging will als nt be accepted. Dangerus Gds may be limited by Regulatins t specified amunts per package and aircraft type. Shipments must fully match the descriptin given n the paperwrk. Undeclared r incrrectly declared hazardus materials will be reprted as required by Federal Hazardus Material regulatins. What is a Shipper's Declaratin? A Shipper s Declaratin (DGD) is a frm used t dcument infrmatin pertaining t a specific shipment f dangerus gds. A shipment tendered under the IATA Dangerus Gds Regulatins must be accmpanied by tw cpies f a red/ white DGD. A shipment tendered under 49 CFR is nt required t use a red / white DGD. The shipper is respnsible fr cmpleting the Shipper s Declaratin. Ravn Alaska Carg persnnel shall nt cmplete any part f the DGD belw the Nature and Quantity f Dangerus Gds line. The DGD must be signed by the shipper. Signature may either be handwritten, be reprduced by printing r stamping, r as a carbn cpy. A typewritten signature is nt acceptable. The DGD is issued in tw frmats. Ravn Alaska accepts bth frmats. The difference between the tw frmats is in the Nature and Quantity f Dangerus Gds sectin. One frmat has clumns with clumn headers fr the dangerus gds identificatin. The ther frmat des nt have the clumns. What is prf f delivery (POD)? Infrmatin usually prvided t the shipper cntaining time, date, and the name f the persn wh accepted the delivery f the shipment fr the cnsignee. Shipping Guidelines fr Hunters The fllwing items will be cnsidered fr shipping: Mse, caribu, gat, and sheep shall be classified as big game. Prducts handled by a taxidermist, butcher, r meat prcessr resulting in a finished r munted trphy, cut and wrapped meat, r smked sausage, etc. Page 10 f 12

11 Perishable Items (Raw Meat and Hides) We d nt accept liability f spilage, regardless f delay. If nt packaged per the fllwing specificatins, the shipment shall nt be transprted. Shipment(s) must be tendered fr transprtatin a minimum f 3 hurs prir t flight departure. Must be encased in a heavy-duty plyethylene bag regardless f uter packaging. Must be in leak prf uter cntainer (n Styrfam). Must have n nticeable drs. Maximum weight per piece 100 punds. Labeled apprpriately (FROZEN OR COOL). Dry ice (up t 5.5 punds) r gel ice can be used. N wet ice allwed. Cler r freezer space nt guaranteed. Federal Lacey Act requires specific labeling f all interstate shipments. All charges must be prepaid. All surfaces must be clean f bld and dirt. Unprcessed shipments f big game may be accepted nly when the fllwing infrmatin is prvided: Date f transfer Name f persn taking game Hunting license number Hunter's address Lcatin where game was taken Specify wh is presenting a shipment when tendered by smene ther than the hunter (e.g., guide service, Air Taxi Cmpany). Shippers and Cnsignees must make arrangements t cllect shipments at the Ravn Alaska final destinatin fr frwarding. Shipping Guidelines fr Antlers Acceptance Check with yur lcal Ravn Carg Office fr additinal Guidelines prir t yur hunt. Skulls must be encased in a heavy duty plyethylene cvering and taped. Packaging may in a plyethylene bag inside a crrugated bx Antler tips must be padded t prevent punctures (cut garden hse, swim ndles, etc, secured with tape) Antlers with raw meat, bld r nticeable drs will nt be accepted Perishables and meat must be packaged separately frm antlers All shipments subject t Ravn s Cntract f Carriage N Interline shipments can be accepted Nrmal delivery time is within the nrmal stated Service Levels. Aircraft ruting service pattern that feeds traffic frm many cities int a central hub designed t cnnect with ther flights t final destinatins. The system maximizes perating flexibility by cnnecting many markets thrugh a hub with fewer flights than wuld be required t cnnect each pair f cities in an extensive system. Sme hubs are statins with Passenger and Carg Offices. What are the Ravn Alaska Hubs and what villages t thse hubs serve?
