POSITION OBJECTIVES The Sustainability Engagement Officer is dedicated t the develpment and delivery f envirnmental sustainability prgrams acrss the City f Yarra and within the rganisatin. The key bjectives are t: Design and deliver cmmunity sustainability engagement and behaviur change prgrams and initiatives t increaseenvirnmental actin in the Municipality. Design, deliver, and/r prmte cmmunity envirnmental sustainability infrmatin and events, t increase envirnmental awareness and actin. Wrk in partnership with the cmmunity and stakehlders in area f envirnmental sustainability, and actively participate in reginal prjects fr lcal sustainability. 2 Design and deliver staff sustainability engagementprgrams and supprt, t increase and embed envirnmental awareness and actin within the rganisatin. Investigate, prepare, and supprt applicatins fr relevant grant prgrams t secure funds t enable delivery f sustainability actin prgrams. ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT The City f Yarra is cmmitted t efficiently and effectively servicing the cmmunity t the highest standards, prtecting, enhancing and develping the City s physical and scial envirnment and building the ppulatin and business base. A majr imperative f the Organisatin is the intrductin f a best value framewrk with an emphasis n custmer service and cntinuus imprvement. The Sustainability and Strategic Transprt Branch frms part f the Planning and Placemaking Divisin. As a member f the branch, the incumbent is required t pursue branch, divisinal and crprate gals thrugh effective team wrk within the branch, with clleagues in ther branches and divisins, and thrugh develping sund wrking relatinships with a range f internal and external stakehlders. The rle f the Sustainability Unit is t enable the visin f Yarra t transitin t a resilient and sustainable city. The Unit is respnsible fr the develpment f many envirnmental plicies, initiatives, plans and prgrams acrss the rganisatin and managing their implementatin. Underpinning the utlk f a sustainable future is a fcus n sustainability educatin and engagement f the cmmunity and staff, t which the incumbent will cntribute significantly. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIP Psitin reprts t: Psitin supervises Internal Relatinships: External Relatinships: Sustainability Unit Manager Cnsultants, temprary prject fficers Liaise with a variety f staff acrss all levels within the rganisatin as required, including managers, and crdinatrs, prject managers, and ther fficers. The incumbent is required t maintain prfessinal relatinships with envirnmental planning and management staff in a range f Federal, State and Lcal Gvernment agencies; private sectr bdies, and external service prviders, cmmunity grups, residents, and ratepayers. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS AND DUTIES Design and deliver cmmunity sustainability engagement and behaviur change prgrams fr envirnmental sustainability actin acrss the cmmunity: Develp and deliver brad cmmunity sustainability engagement activities, prviding a crdinated and strategic apprach. Design, deliver, and/r prmte cmmunity envirnmental sustainability infrmatin and events, t increase envirnmental awareness and actin. Facilitate implementatin f relevant elements f the Yarra Envirnment Strategy, including Sustainability Hubs, and supprt develpment f relevant sectins f future Envirnment Strategies.

3 Prvide supprt t cmmunity-led sustainability activities in Yarra t enhance their utcmes and effectiveness. Prject Manage the annual Yarra Sustainability Awards Manage the nminatin prcess, and prmtins t encurage and supprt ptential nminatins. Crdinate the nminatinsjudging prcess. Manage the awards night develpment and implementatin. Prject Manage the Sustainability Stream f Yarra's Annual Grants Wrk withinthe nging Annual Grants prcesst prmte and encurage uptake f the Sustainability Stream, and supprt ptential applicants. Supprt grant recipients t enhanceprject design and delivery, andunderstand ptential Cuncillinkages. Design and deliver engagement and behaviur change prgrams fr increasing envirnmental sustainability within the rganisatin. Crdinate the internal staff Green Team t supprt staff t imprve sustainability in the wrkplace and thrugh their rle. Supprt integratin f sustainability int Cuncil departments t create sustainable utcmes as business as usual. Mnitr and evaluatin perfrmance f envirnmental prgrams. Investigate and prepare applicatins fr relevant grant prgrams with the aim t secure funds t enable effective delivery f sustainability actin prgrams Develp and maintain prductive relatinships and represent Yarra with all levels f gvernment, key industry stakehlders, cmmunity grups, and with Cuncil staff acrss the rganisatin. Prepare reprts fr Cuncil and Executive as directed. ACCOUNTABILITY AND EXTENT OF AUTHORITY The authrity and freedm t act in the psitin is subject t the bjectives, gals and budgetary cnstraints fr the Branch as determined by Cuncil and the Executive Management Team, the requirements f the Lcal Gvernment Act and ther relevant statutry regulatins, and prfessinal technical standards. The Sustainability Engagement Officer is required t: wrk with and reprt t the Sustainability Unit Manager t ensure achievement f branch gals and bjectives; prvide expert and timely advice fr discussins with management, that relates t sustainability engagement fr the municipality and within the rganisatin; and creativelyreview the design and delivery f sustainability engagement prgrams t increase effectiveness and value fr effrt. The Sustainability Engagement Officer is required t exercise prfessinal judgement, adaptability, prblem slving and cnceptual skills with limited guidance. Matters f plicy changes r f a sensitive nature shuld be brught t the attentin f Sustainability Unit Manager. SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Significant knwledge and experience in develping and implementing cmmunity envirnmental sustainability actin prgrams and prjects. Experience in prmting cmmunity envirnmental infrmatin t increase envirnmental awareness and actin. Significant knwledge and experience in supprting envirnmental sustainability imprvements within a cmplex rganisatin. Experience in delivering cmmunity events. Knwledge and understanding f the lcal gvernment sectr and the rle it plays in prviding envirnmental sustainability actin prgrams acrss the cmmunity. MANAGEMENT SKILLS Demnstrated high-level prject management skills, with the ability t manage wn time and priritise wrk twards a set timetable and budget,within an envirnment f change and cnflicting demands.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Tertiary qualificatins in envirnment/sustainability, cmmunity develpment,scial science r similar. Demnstrated experience in develping and delivering behaviur change prjects, ideally fr envirnmental utcmes. Experience in managing prjects t agreed timelines and budgets. Demnstrated experience in engaging staff t wrk twards mre sustainable utcmes. Understanding f cmmunity cnsultatin principles. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Experience in develping and implementing cmmunity envirnmental sustainability actin prgrams and prjects. 2. Knwledge and experience in supprting envirnmental sustainability imprvements within a cmplex rganisatin. 3. Demnstrated prject management skills and ability t undertake cmplex prjects with many stakehlders. 4. Well-develped written and ral cmmunicatin skills, and ability t articulate a cmplex message t infrm and educatedifferent audiences. 5. Understanding f current trends and emerging issues, particularly in relatin t cmmunity engagement, envirnmental sustainability, and lcal gvernment. 6.
