5 WHY WE FUNDRAISE... The Scouting program has three specific objectives, commonly referred to as the Aims of Scouting: character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. --National Eagle Scout Association Everything in the program... including Fundraising... should flow from these.

7 WHY WE FUNDRAISE... Yes, it brings in money to fund program, which is important. But other organizations stop here. Here are 7 more SCOUTING reasons. 1. Scouts experience adult interaction (a Scouting Method) 2. Character building 3. Scouts are responsible for their program (especially Troops) 4. Incentives (prizes, $$, etc.) 5. Scholarship Fund 6. Easy and profitable compared to other fundraisers. 7. Scouts are good at it.

9 How the Sale Works Your unit (Pack, Troop, etc.) is a Popcorn Store Stores buy at wholesale (70%) and sell at retail (100%) Scouts are the salesmen on commission. Your Unit orders and receives Popcorn from the Council in advance and pays for it later.

Don t have a donation jar Encourages lowest giving amount Technically, not allowed Apply donations to Military option 3. Don t break open Microwave boxes Not labeled for individual sale Takes 20 sales of $1 to equal 1 sale of $20 4. In this order: Cash/Check Credit Card Donation Have a good day

19 Notes: SHOW AND SELL 1. SnS orders cases only: not individual bags or tins. 1, 6, or 12 bags/tins per Case depending on flavor 2. Get a variety, but not necessarily every flavor. 3. Ensure access to storage facility throughout sale period 4. You will not sell all popcorn. (See overage/underage later) 5. Have a method for tracking popcorn/cash (next slide)

Apply to Military Popcorn: Counts toward Trail s End Prize Incentives Counts toward Scholarship Legally: At no time are Units permitted to solicit contributions for Unit programs. Violates non-profit status. If you have donations remaining under $30, purchase product, have uniformed Scouts deliver to first responders, and send the Council a picture!

56 COMMISSIONS Remember, you re a popcorn store. You re selling popcorn at RETAIL cost. ($10) The Council bills you at WHOLESALE, 70%. ($7) Goes to Council & Trail s End You keep the difference. ($3) Extra commission: Council sends you a check after you fulfill requirements in February.

57 2018 Commission: Show and Sell & Take Order Base Commission: 30% 1. Sell popcorn. Receive 30% commission on all Show and Sell/Take Order EXAMPLE Unit Sells $10,000 (Show and Sell/Take Order) $10,000 x 30% = $3,000 (Kept by unit at time of sale)

58 2018 Commission: Show and Sell & Take Order Base Commission Plus: + 5% 1. Attend Council Kickoff 2. Pick up popcorn on time (Show and Sell 9/15/18, Take Order 11/10/18) 3. Pay popcorn balance to Atlanta Area Council by 12/6/18 Example Unit Sells $10,000 (Show and Sell/Take Order) $10,000 x 30% = $ 3,000 (base) $10,000 x 5% = $ 500 (Part of commission check sent to Committee Chair by February 28) Total = $ 3,500
