1 Job Description Job Title: Grade: Responsible to: Responsible for: Hours of Duty: Qualifications Required: Watersports Centre Assistant Manager SCL Grade 5 21,530 23,698 (including evening & weekend work, for which enhancements will be paid) Water Sports Centre Manager Watersports Assistants, Receptionist & Casual Instructors 36hrs per week, annual weekly average (annualised hours, seasonal) Hold a valid RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor Award or above And hold and at least two other valid coaching qualification from the below: RYA Powerboat Instructor RYA Windsurf Instructor BWSW System 2.0 Operator Licence Purpose and Objectives of Post: This post is to assist in the management of the Centres programme of watersports and land based outdoor activities which run all year round. Offering Sailing, Windsurfing, kayaking & Canoeing, Wakeboarding, Open Water Swimming, Orienteering, Hill walking, Climbing and Initiative games to a wide variety of clients. To take responsibility for the Watersports centre and staff in the absence of the Centre Manager. And to assist the centre manager in all aspects of work including programming, safety, and water quality. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties listed below together with such other duties falling within the purview of the post as may be required. 1 To assist with the establishment of links with schools, local sport clubs and other community groups to improve customer relations and increase attendance. 2 To produce reports as requested by the Centre Manager. 3 To assist the Centre Manager in preparation and implementation of water activity and outdoors programme and in its daily implementation. 4 To implement the centre s NOP and EAP and assist in annual updates. 5 To develop new initiatives, that will contribute towards the centre in achieving its income targets. 6 To assist with the bookings and income collection for the Watersports program, using the MIS system. 7 To motivate, lead, monitor and direct staff to meet the needs of the centre s programme, and play an active role within this team. 8 To take responsibility for the development of clubs based at the centre and support their applications for funding, accreditation, etc 9 To oversee the finances for the centre, including the budget, income, collection of fees and banking, and the analysis of these. 10 To play a key role in developing and maintaining high standards of customer service & the collection of customer feedback and the analysis of this. 11 To comply with SCL s policies and procedures including Health and Safety.

2 12 To assist with the marketing, website & social media for the centre & to ensure the service is promoted effectively. 13 To monitor the training, monitoring, maintaining of personal skills, and upkeep of relevant NGB memberships of the staff. 14 To ensure compliance with the centre s Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action plan and update, amend the policies when required. 15 To take the lead role with regards appropriate NGB recognition & AALA and stay up to date with relevant initiatives & good practice. 16 Any other duties which may fall within the purview of the post as may be required. Corporate Responsibilities: 1 To ensure the service is promoted efficiently, effectively and in keeping with the Corporate image. 2 Ensure customer care is the major priority for service provision. 3 To ensure high levels of professional conduct at all times with particular reference to punctuality, dress, presentation and administration. 4 Considerable importance is attached to the public relations aspect of all work undertaken by Salford Community Leisure staff. It is expected, therefore, that the post holder will at all times project to the public the image of the SCL as being keen to assist wherever possible and positively promote the work the SCL does across its various services. 5 SCL expects all its employees to have a full commitment to the SCL`s Equal Opportunities Policy and acceptance of a personal responsibility for its practical application. 3 PERSON SPECIFICATION POST: Watersports Assistant Centre Manager GRADE: 5 ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Skills Assessment Criteria a. Ability to lead & motivate a team and provide support to the Centre Manager AF/I b. Ability to take full responsibility for the day to day running of the Centre in the absence of the Centre Manager. AF/I c. Good standard of written and numeration skills AF/I d. A commitment to a high standard of customer care. AF/I e. Able to work on own initiative and make decisions AF/I f. Able to work as an efficient member of a team. AF/I g. A positive attitude towards teamwork. AF/I h. Ability to meet deadlines AF/I i. Competent user of IT packages AF j. Hold a valid First Aid certificate AF/Certificate d. Hold a clean full UK driving licence AF/Certificate e. Good understanding of NGB initiatives & coaching practises AF/I f. Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements for adventurous activities AF/I g. Practical knowledge of the repair & maintenance of equipment AF h. Knowledge of relevant National Governing Bodies and their schemes. AF/I Experience a. At least 1 years experience in a management role within the Leisure / Outdoor industry AF/I b. Experience of producing reports c. Experience of managing projects d. Experience of planning events e.
