1 CENTRAL OREGON INTERGOVERNMENTAL COUNCIL (COIC) BEND, OREGON To provide education, retraining and economic development services to positively affect regional employment, individual lives, the business community and local government Job Title: Program Assistant- Family Home Visitor Closing Date/Time: 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 Salary: Grade 3 - hourly position $14.43 per hour Job Type: Part-Time - Benefited Location: Redmond/Bend WorkSource - with travel throughout CO) Position Summary: Responsible throughout the District for conducting home visits on Adult families who have been assigned to participate in JOBS Program activities, as determined by DHS/SSP. Duties include reviewing client status/progress with SSP, COIC, and other partner agencies' staff as necessary, and tracking/entering data into the DHS automated system. Performs assigned home visits timely in support of JOBS Program activities, including the Re-engagement process. Ability to work independently and having reliable transportation are particularly important requirements of this position. Position requires significant solo travel throughout the tri-county area, including potentially remote locations. Must use own vehicle, and will be reimbursed for business-related mileage, per COIC's mileage reimbursement policy. MINIMUM EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED Educational/Experience Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent plus two years of work experience in related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience in related field may be substituted. Preference given to individual who has experience working with current DHS/SSP JOBS Program activities. Experience conducting home visits also preferred. Required Qualifications & Technical Skills/Knowledge: Must be bondable. Must maintain client and agency confidentiality. Valid driver s license and access to private vehicle or equivalent means of transportation. Must pass a criminal and driving background check. Must have the ability to communicate and interact positively. Ability to quickly establish rapport with clients very important. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, but will often work independently. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills preferred, but not required. Must have demonstrated ability to work positively and encourage success with high-risk target population and poorly functioning families. Knowledge of Central Oregon geography and local community resources especially beneficial. Ability to prepare clear, concise narrations. Computer experience in spreadsheet and word processing programs. Knowledge of and familiarity with current DHS/SSP JOBS Program very helpful and strongly preferred. Experience conducting home visits strongly preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment and to drive a motor vehicle in order to visit participant homes; some walking, standing, stooping, occasional weighing up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
