2 Purpose of the role : The Test Analyst is responsible for preparing and executing scripts that evaluate performance and compatibility with the intended operating environment of developed applications or software. Taking sole responsibility for all aspects of project testing, the test analyst will be required to work with development teams, project managers, end users and other groups to ensure some or all criteria of testing are fulfilled. Involves gathering of requirements, generation of test scripts and test plans, executing test scripts and feedback to both the test process and the other teams. KEY TASKS Preparing and maintaining Test Plans EXPECTED OUTCOMES Test cases are designed and developed in consultation with team members from Health Information Group (HIG), developers and other stakeholders Reusable and maintainable automated scripts are designed, developed and executed using available tools Test plans are documented Test plans are peer reviewed Test plans are reviewed and updated to remain current Functional and non-functional testing standards are recommended and implemented within the software test cycle Preparing test components Test scripts are documented and updated to reflect agreed changes Creates traceability records, from test cases back to requirements. Specifies requirements for environment, data, resources and tools Reviews test results and modifies tests if necessary. Participate in peer review of software development cycle deliverables Test script execution Carry out regular integration testing and system testing of software Perform testing including - Unit - Integration - Systems Feedback providing to the development teams Records and analyses actions and results, and maintains a defect register Regular reports prepared and submitted on work progress Business Process Testing Specifies and develops test scenarios to test that new/updated processes deliver improved ways of working for Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 2

4 PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Senior Test Analyst Project Services Office Qualification Minimum Tertiary qualification ISEB or ISTQB certified foundation (or equivalent) Preferred Tertiary qualification in health information management, computer science or management ISEB or ISTQB certified advanced (or equivalent) Experience Five years software testing experience including: i. Quality assurance experience in a structured test environment; ii. Proficiency in software testing techniques, testing tools, incident/defect tracking systems and other test-support tools; iii. Proficiency in black box and white box testing techniques; iv. Strong hands-on working knowledge of SQL v. Testing experience of Client Server and Web based Systems; Experience in scripting unit level cases Experience working with health applications Skills/Knowledge/Behavior Demonstration of values alignment to the Waitemata DHB values. Detail oriented ability to complete tasks with high accuracy levels Relationship building skills ability to build strong links with internal and external stakeholders Systems thinking ability to think across the whole spectrum to participate in robust decision making and innovation Team player must be able to work within a team as well as manage specific accountabilities Strong oral and written communication skills Energy and enthusiasm Strategic Thinking Organisational diagnosis skills.
