Early Childhood Center at Edgewood together with elementary school. District Administration location to be determined.

4 Middle School Campus model Concept Estimate summary May 2015 September 2015 Total Project Cost $201,391,500 $197,900,000 Contingency included $46,492,800 $40,800,000 (23.1%) (20.5%) Project Cost includes building renovation and construction, site improvements including off-site roadwork, non-construction costs including professional service fees and furniture, fixtures and equipment, and contingencies for design, escalation and construction. 4 Based on concept drawings prepared by the Architect and on estimates of probable construction cost prepared by the Construction Manager, the total Project Cost for the Middle School Campus Model will be about $198M. Significant cost reductions will require changes to the District s program requirements.

5 Middle School Campus Model changes between May and September!! The Early Childhood Center will be located at Edgewood (together with a 4-section per grade elementary school) in lieu of at Wayne Thomas, which will be demolished or re-purposed 5 The changes listed here result in a 7-Building in lieu of an 8-Building Middle School Campus Model. This will result in operational and maintenance savings.!! District Administration will be located in space yet to be identified, possibly leased space

6 Included infrastructure improvements!! Building entries will be reconfigured to improve security!! All schools will be made ADA accessible!! Air conditioning and fire protection will be added to all schools!! Existing classrooms will be re-furnished with adaptable furniture systems!! Plumbing piping that is uncovered in the course of renovation work will be replaced 6 Financial sustainability requires that existing school infrastructure challenges be addressed. The Middle School Campus model does so by including substantial infrastructure improvements to existing schools. Additionally, building maintenance identified in the District s recent facility analysis and master plan that is scheduled to be performed within the project s duration will be completed as part of the reconfiguration process.

Substitute metal in lieu of stone roof copings 8 Every cost estimate includes value analysis to identify opportunities for reducing costs. The items indicated here represent the range of value analysis that is included in the current Concept Estimate.!! Reduce height of ceramic wall tile finish in toilet rooms from 8 to 4 feet!! Substitute rubber in lieu of wood flooring at upper gym

9 9 Estimating Process CONCEPT DESIGN ESTIMATE & VALUE ANALYZE SCHEMATIC DESIGN ESTIMATE & V.A. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT ESTIMATE & V.A. CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS BID The current concept estimate is one of several estimating and value analysis exercises that will be performed as the design is developed. This will assure that the budget is maintained and will afford opportunities for cost reduction throughout the process. Actual costs will be determined when the project is bid.
