Role Purpose: why the role exists and its overall contribution to the organisation To ensure the successful delivery of the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme on a daily basis through the successful recruitment of apprentices into work placements with host employers in addition to working in partnership with the Apprenticeship Officers. This will involve the recruitment, organisation and monitoring of the Training and Development of apprentices into the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme to maximise the number of successfully completed apprenticeship frameworks and FT employment outcomes as identified in the SAS Delivery Plan. Role Accountabilities: main areas for achieving delivery and results To co-ordinate the day to day operation of the SAS, through the establishment and maintenance of a good working relationship with the SAS client. Establish host employer engagement in order to promote and identify placement opportunities, and develop these relationships to the benefit of the SAS and CITB. Co-ordinate required recruitment, following recruitment procedure, and ensure all entrants fulfil the eligibility criteria as set out by the SAS and CITB. Promote the SAS through attending careers events, engagement with external agencies, and to provide young people, parents, schools, and other parties with up to date information. To support apprentices, the SAS s and colleges to ensure each apprentice achieves their framework, and to support and mentor apprentices to ensure each reaches their maximum potential and that the apprentice wellbeing is paramount at all times. Undertake regular progress reviews. Manage the learners learning and development plan. Managing and reporting apprentices progress to drive achievement. To provide Line Manager with accurate information to substantiate monthly claims, and any other requested information. Ensure pre-placement Health and Safety checks are carried out with each host employer to
2 determine suitability of apprentice placement prior to start. To act as the main communication point to link colleges and Apprenticeship Officers to the employer (SAS) in the coordination of apprenticeship delivery. Safeguard learner interests reporting any concerns through agreed channels. Highlight and find solutions for issues preventing continuation of training/achievement and recruitment/retention. To promote and uphold the policies, procedures and processes relating to Equality & Diversity within CITB, and to challenge through appropriate actions where behaviour falls below acceptable standards. Make best use of reporting systems available to manage recruitment and on-going performance. Identify and refer to CITB Advisor s, or other departments and teams, any additional opportunities for the use of CITB products and services to maximise cross-selling opportunities. Identify apprentices for Awards or competitions e.g. Skillbuild Provide occasional holiday and sick leave cover for the team, including Apprentice Reviews, as and when required by line Manager People Leadership / Team Leadership where the role has direct or matrix reports. Internal No direct reports but responsible for working with others Line Manager provide detailed reports and information of SAS progress, ability to identify potential issues and identify to Line Manager, along with any potential solutions. CITB Area Delivery Teams to provide updates on SAS progress, and consult with them to negotiate college starts and co-ordinated site visits, and to work collaboratively in the on-going progress monitoring and tracking of apprentices. External The ability to develop working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including, apprentices, parents, colleges, host employers and other key partners. Host Contractors providing information on SAS, their role, placement requirements, build a trustworthy relationship. Must communicate around selling the benefits of CITB, agreeing work to be provided and related support to apprentice, disciplinary, grievance and safeguarding issues. SAS Client ability to work closely with key members of staff to coordinate placement opportunities and recruitment. Requirement to attend regular meetings to discuss progress, report any issues/concerns, along with communicating potential solutions, and must have the ability to influence decision-making. Apprentices communicate the details of the SAS to them, present to groups during their assessments/inductions. Decision Making and Business Impact Decision making; what key decisions have to made, when, how often. What is the potential impact of the decisions made on the business, i.e. does the role have the capacity to make decisions that will shape the direction of the department, directorate, overall organisation or industry? Basic decision making to ensure smooth day to day running of the regional SAS.

Making interventions in training where delivery, progress or quality is at risk on site or in college, or with issues surrounding placements, and escalating emerging issues to Line Manager if necessary To support the SAS operational Business Plan. To assist in the development of regional relationships. To aim to provide an improved service to companies, and the potential to generate revenue for other directorates through face to face contact. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience: Essential Detailed knowledge of apprenticeships Knowledge of the education sector or the Construction Industry Experience in being responsible for own workload and working independently to tight time-scales Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, challenge, and to manage conflict and difficult situations MS Office skills Desirable Working knowledge/experience in Government Work Based Learning requirements and related inspection criteria Ability to deliver high levels of apprentice support, with experience of mentoring young people Project management skills Key Behavioural Competencies (The main competencies that are required to be evidenced to be successful in the role, ideally 3 or 4.
