An understanding f prerequisite knwledge is assumed and will nt be graded. T be graded, student wrk must demnstrate retentin, understanding and cnfidence in the exercising f prerequisite knwledge. 3

4 At least 10% f the curse grade will be attributed t participatin; tardiness, alertness, disruptive cnversatin, web surfing, texting, wrking n hmewrk, listening t music r any ther behavir that des nt cntribute t curse success may be penalized. Attendance: Hmewrk: Lecture, labratry, quiz, exam and any ther curse related meetings are required. Students nt attending curse meetings and/r nt turning in assignments will be drpped frm the curse by the instructr. will be cmpleted in a cnsistent frmat in all Civil Engineering curses; The student s full name will be prvided in the upper right crner f the first page. The student s last name will be prvided in the upper right crner f additinal pages. The page number and ttal number f pages will be shwn in the upper right crner f the secnd and any additinal pages. Hmewrk will nt be stapled. Only ne side (the frnt side, binding hles n the left, heavily printed grid n the back) f the paper will be used. Hmewrk that is nt legible will nt be graded. will be turned in n time and at the beginning f lecture (first 6 minutes), when due at a lecture; N late hmewrk will be accepted fr full credit. Tw assignments (maximum) per curse may be submitted at the beginning f the fllwing lecture fr at mst 50% credit. Prblems invlving calculatins will be cmpleted n engineering paper; Hmewrk cmpleted n paper frm a spiral ntebk will have any spiral perfratins trimmed frm the pages. Engineering paper created using a watermark, title blck and/r brder may be printed. Spreadsheet slutins will include algebraic equatins and adequate ntatins t fllw the develpment f the slutin and facilitate checks with hand calculatins. Prblem slutins will include the prblem statement at the tp f the prblem fllwed by any data r ther infrmatin given t slve the prblem. Assumptins used t slve prblems will be clearly identified. References t materials used t slve the prblem will be prvided, including (when used) slutin manuals. Slutins appearing t have been cpied frm a slutin manual will nt be graded. Slutins will include detailed prgressin f calculatins. Answers will be well identified (circled, bxed, underlined r highlighted) and will include units Cmpleted hmewrk slutins will be flded in half (4.25 x 11 when flded, typical) with the students full name written in the upper right crner f the back page. Electrnic Devices: During lectures, all electrnic devices will be turned ff and put away: cell phnes, i Pds, PDA s, etc. Electrnic devices, including cmputers, may nly be used t reference and/r supprt curse materials, cntent and discussins. Exams: Exams are t be taken at scheduled exam times. Academic dishnesty will nt be tlerated. When bserved, cheating will result in a failing grade Instances f cheating will be referred t the Dean f Students Exams will generally be taken with tables/desks cleared. 4
