Quarrying capacity of the same is /A The major highlights of the project are: The project comes under non agriculture land. Project site has proper road accessibility. No displacements of settlement are required. No sensitive places of notified archaeological, historical or tourist importance within or nearby the buffer zone. Project Description Location: The site is located at Survey No. 379, Village Kombhalne, Taluka - Akole, District- Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The site is accessible from SH-44 at a distance of Km. Land: The land comes under mining area approved by the government of Maharashtra. Therefore no need of human displacement is needed in the project area. The land provided for stone mining is 1.00 hectare to the project proponent. Co-ordinate: The coordinates of the plant site are latitude 19 36'34.58"N and longitude 73 54'36.33"E. Water: Water requirement of the project will be met through the water tanker and borewell which is existing in the human settlement area. Company does not exploit any other water resources or ground water; therefore no adverse impact is anticipated on water environment. The water requirement is estimated to be maximum of 2000 lit/day. 3 Location: The project site falls under the district of Ahmednagar. Ahmednagr is the largest district of Maharashtra State with geographical area of Sq. km., which is 5.66% of area of Maharashtra State. Out of total areas sq. km. is urban area and remaining 16,656.5 sq. k. m. is rural area. Ahmednagar is centrally located in western Maharashtra. Topography: The Ahmednagar district is bounded on the north by Nasik district, on the north east by Aurangabad district, in the east by Beed and Osmanabad, on the south by Solapur and in the south west by Thane and Pune district. There is various land forms founds in Ahmednagar district. These different types of land forms in the region constitute its physical set-up. The physical of Ahmednagar district are the following divisionsa. Western hilly region- The main Sahyadri range touches Akola Tahsil in the western area of Ahmednagar and forms this main range three spears viz. Kalsubai, Baleshwar and Harishchandragad. Kalsubai is the highest peak of Sahyadri (1654 mtr.). b. Central plateau region- Parner, Ahmednagar Tahsil and parts of Sangamner, Shrigoda and Karjat Tahsils are included in this region. c. Northern and southern plain regions- It includes northern Koperagaon, Rahata, Shrirampur, Rahuri, Newasa, Shevgaon and Pathardi Tahsils. This is the region of the Godavari and the Pravara river basins. Parts of the southern tahsils of Shrigoda, Karjat and Jamkhed are also included in this physical division. This region covers basins of the Ghod, Bhima and the Sina rivers. Soil Quality: The entire district is occupied by basaltic lava flow, which is popularly known as the Deccan Traps. These lava flows are sometimes associated with inter-trappen beds such as lime stones, sand stones, clay shales, red bole beds, porous thin mantle of black cotton soil present almost every where on the basaltic area. According to the Dry Farming Research Station, Solapur, considering the depth of soil and other factors, only 26% of the area is suitable for double cropping while the rest is suitable only for crops like Bajra, Groundnut, Sunflower, Grasses and Plantation. Meteorology: The average annual rainfall in the district is mm. The district mostly is in rain shadow to the east of western ghats. Near the western border of the district the rainfall decreases rapidly as one proceeds towards east. But from a line roughly north-south in the central parts of the district the rainfall gradually increases towards the east. 4 temperatures during summer season ranges from about 38 0 C to 42.0 C. The air is generally dry during the months from February to May and particularly so in the afternoons when the humidity is about 20 per cent on the average. The relative humidity during south-west monsoon period are between 60 and 80 per cent. Thereafter they decrease rapidly. Water: Water needed for operation requirement shall be drawn from water tankers and borewell which is present in the human settlement area and not in the lease area. Ecology: No extra land will be acquired during the operation of the project there will be no adverse impact on some of the environmental aspect. In the area of the project proponent clustered green belt is found in the vicinity, hence there will not be any kind of deforestation. No rare or endangered species of flora and fauna are present in the immediate vicinity as well as the study area. Thus, there will not be any adverse impact on flora and fauna. Socio-economic: The project will provide positive impact on the economic development of the region in terms of employment opportunities. Moreover the above unit will be operating in an authorized mining land declared by the Govt. of India. Therefore no population will be displaced. Risk assessment plan Risks likely to pose threat to man, environment or property associated with various activities are addressed in this report. Such activities include transport, storage; handling and usage of fuels. All equipments vulnerable to explosion or fire would be designed to relevant IS codes and statutory regulations. Conclusion The minor mineral project of stone crushing will not have any adverse impact on the environment. Altogether the project will have a positive impact on social environment by providing employment opportunity for the skilled and unskilled labors living in the surrounding villages. Sadekar Enviro Engg. Pvt. Ltd to carry out Prefeasibility and EMP report for the existing project of their Minor Mineral Activity of the order /A. The major highlights of the project are: The project comes under non agriculture land. No displacements of settlement are required. No sensitive places of notified archaeological, historical or tourist importance within or nearby the buffer zone. 1.2 Crushing Activity No crusher installed in lease area. 1.3 Need of the Project The project proponent has proposed inclusion of Stone Crushing in the mining lease as explorations have shown that these deposits occur in the subject lease area. The proposed mining production is covered under the Ministry of Environment & Forests Notification This report of Prefeasibility & Environmental Management Plan is given here as a part of the information to be furnished to the SEAC, Govt of Maharashtra for obtaining Environmental Clearance as per office Memorandum No. L-11000/47/2011/IA-II (M) dated To meet the ever-increasing local demand for Crushed stone by the building industry and construction company the project proponent intends to produce the following quantities of crushed stones by Manual method of quarry activity. Crushed stone has a very minor share among the exports of non-metallic mineral products of India. It is observed that total export volume of the crushed stone has been very low, whereas, Marble has the highest share and remained at the top. The market scope for crushed stone is found to be encouraging in local market with the increased demand from building industry & construction fields. There is also a sufficient demand from Govt. Contractors for laying of roads and construction of industries etc. The entry in the target market is easy and there is a narrow gap in the supply and demand, which is expected to grow in the coming years. The business opportunity to fill the demand and supply gap would be quite profitable. 1.5 Employment Generation The establishment of this project will improve the socio-economic status of the surrounding area by way of direct & indirect employment. 8 2.2 Land Distribution around Site The project site is having quarry area, office area and shelter provided for the workers. 2.3 Size and Magnitude of Operation The estimated cost of the project is going to be INR 45 lakhs, including a capital expenditure of INR 9.0 Lakh on environmental matters. It is expected that the recurring costs on environmental matters would be INR 90,000. The project capacity is / A 2.4 Present mining technology Four technology namely bucket wheel system, Dragline system, shovel dumper system and surface mine with pay loader system are well known for quarrying plan. Due to multi seam, abrasive sandstone, hard carb shale and many faults bucket wheel system has not been considered. Dragline system has also not been considered due to many faults. Shovel dumper system is very flexible and offer convenient mining. The project proponent is using Shovel dumper system and manual method for the quarrying of stones. Surface miner system can be considered when overburden generated can be backfilled. Surface miner system is costly; this can be the reason for its less use. 2.5 Water Sources Water is required in the project site for various purposes like spraying to control the dust generation. Water is also used during the drilling process. The water requirement will be around 2.0 CMD. The source of the water will be bore well. 9 2.6 Power Sources The power requirement of the project will be nil. 2.7 Waste Generated The possible waste generated by the mining process will be some rejection which can be used for leveling of the land. No solid or liquid waste will be generated from the mining process. 2.8 Explosive Storage Project proponent conducts explosions at site through help of licensed practioner. Hence there is no storage of explosives on the quarry site Manpower The total manpower is 10 people at the project site. Both the skilled and the unskilled labors are included.
