2 Access Statement fr Playmbil FunPark (Malta) Intrductin Prmting Play The cncept f the Playmbil FunPark in Malta is t prvide the pprtunity fr children t interact with the prduct thus creating and enhancing Playmbil s awareness and image thrugh a fun, safe and healthy experience. Pre-Arrival Infrmatin abut the Playmbil FunPark is available n the website as well as n the Flyers which are cnstantly distributed t majr htels, MTA turist infrmatin ffices and tyshps. The website can be seen n any brwser and it can als be zmed t accmmdate the end user s visual necessities. It is als cmpatible with cmputers using screen-reading sftware. Occasinally billbards are put up n majr rad arteries in Malta as well as in Gz. Infrmatin is als available n the FunPark s facebk Page ( This page is cnstantly updated and mnitred. Bus Number X4 frm Valletta (n the half hur) stps right utside the Playmbil FunPark, hwever we ffer the facility t call a taxi fr ur visitrs shuld they request ne. There have been prblems with the rute X4 cming all the way t the Playmbil FunPark. The Management has been in cntact with Transprt Malta/Malta Enterprise cnstantly t try and find a remedy and a slutin. N pets are allwed at the Playmbil FunPark but Guide Dgs are allwed at the FunPark. One f the services ffered at the FunPark is the Factry tur, whereby pre bking is recmmended, nly children 6years + are allwed t g n the Factry tur. Clsed shes must be wrn at all times thrughut the tur. The FunPark is mnitred by CCTV Cameras. Page 2

3 Car Parking Facilities Users can park in an adjacent parking area as well as in an adjacent pen space used by bth emplyees and custmers. There is a designated parking spt fr Disabled Badge Hlders in the parking area. Entrance and Retail / Receptin Opening Hurs 10:00hrs-18:00hrs Since the car park has been remved, the FunPark gate leads directly nt the street. Therefre, we have added additinal railings t safeguard and t prevent children frm running ut directly nt the street. After passing thrugh the gate, the custmers walk int a curtyard which has large figures as well as a thrne where children and adults alike can take pictures n. The main entrance leading int the shp/receptin area is accessible by all. It is a sliding Autmatic Glass Dr which nly pens when the peple in frnt f it are f a certain height s as t prtect little children, preventing them frm entering r exiting the premises n their wn. Natural lighting is used mst f the time, but when there isn t a lt f sun; energy saving white, bright, lights are used. Vinyl flr surface There are n ramps and/r steps in the main shp cunter area, it is an pen plan. The Playmbil Funpark staff is multi lingual, with a minimum prficiency in Maltese and English. Staff, greet the visitrs t the FunPark, attend t their queries + explain the services that are available. The shp / receptin area at the Playmbil FunPark is where the custmers pay fr the services they wuld like t purchase and can prceed t the play areas r the cafeteria. 4 The 1m high cunter, is basically dughnut shaped with tw pint f sales n ppsite sides, and ne f the cupbards having wheels t ease access fr the staff. Retail Shelving - Three f the fur sets f shelves have big light bxes with the lg f Playmbil as well as large figures all arund. The ther set f shelves has the lg f anther brand which we imprt (Ravensburger). The flr is level except fr a shrt humped bridge that leads t the play areas. This bridge has rpe-rails. Main Attractin Area (Indr and Outdr Play Area) The FunPark play area is n ne flr, having an indr and utdr play area. The indr play area cvers an area f 377m 2. Tilet facilities are available (Male, Female, Kids and fr Disabled Persns), which als has a nappy changing facility. A Cafeteria (which cvers 311m 2 ) is lcated at the far end with indr and utdr seating with a designated utdr smking area. The utdr play area cvers 1585m 2. Indr Play Area The indr play area is flred with a Vinyl carpet. Page 4

5 In the indr play area there are areas designated fr the different age grups. These are marked accrdingly. There are n steps invlved. There is a ntice bard fr the latest infrmatin and prmtins, whilst within the play area large psters are used t shw the huse rules and ther vital infrmatin. In case f the fire alarm taking ff, all the clients in the FunPark play area and in the cafeteria, tgether with the staff, are ushered ut immediately via the nearest exit and taken t Assembly Pint A which is lcated next t the parking bays f the FunPark. There n particular knwn hazards as these are all kept t a minimum by taking precautins (such as sanding ff the crners f ur displays, putting fam brders n edges s that children will nt hit their heads) The Indr Play Area features a Knights Castle as well as a plice Statin tgether with a suspended Helicpter. All the necessary safety requirements and tests have been taken prir t installing the Helicpter. All this was dne in liaisn with the Cmpany s Health and Safety Officer. Outdr Play Area The utdr play area includes safety flring where necessary. The utdr play area cnsists f a Pirate time setting. Page 5

6 Risk assessments are carried ut peridically. The FunPark staffs are trained first aiders, in the event f an accident taking place. A number f fully equipped first aid bxes are available Water-bwls are prvided fr Guide Dgs. Exhibits and Interpretatin (The Smiling Faces in the Making Tur) Interpretatin f the factry tur is ffered verbally in the English language, thugh it is pertinent t highlight that mst f it is visual therefre language barrier is nt an issue. The restrictin which we primarily impse n the tur is that children shuld nt be yunger than 6 years f age. We als advise ur custmers that they are t wear clsed shes fr the tur. As t what regards machinery, there is a predefined path that the visitrs are t fllw. This was designated in such a way that visitrs view the machines frm a pint where it wuld be hazard-free fr them and the children. They are nt allwed t ram arund in the departments t see all the machines. Public Tilets The tilets are lcated at the end f the Internal Play Area and are marked apprpriately There are 1 male and 1 female tilets, 3 tilets fr children as well as ne fr peple with a disability. 7 The male and female cubicles cver an area f 2m 2 each, the children s tilets cver an area f 2.45m 2 each whilst the tilet fr persns with a disability cvers an area f 3.4m 2. The adult tilet seat is 39cm high The children tilet seat is 32cm high The disabled tilet seat is 49cm high There are tw handrails in the disabled tilet, n either side f the tilet seat. The flring in the tilets is tiled. There is a baby changing facility +.a nappy dispenser, which is fund in an area f the public tilets where it can be used bth by males and females. Cafeteria Lcated at the far end f the indr play area (cvering an area f 311m 2 ) The entrance is the FunPark entrance since it is nly accessible by FunPark custmers. There are n steps invlved t access the cafeteria The flring is tiles in the indr part, whilst the utdr part f the Cafeteria has rubber carpeted flring. Natural lighting is used. The tables and the seats are bth mveable and very stable. The chairs are 46cm high and have n arms. High chairs are als available. The menu ffers a wide variety f fd, varying frm light snacks t meals. The fnt is in such a way that it is easy t read by anyne. (Sans Serif Fnt in size 12). Outlet caters als fr peple with allergies and special dietary needs. Waste separatin bins are lcated in the utdr seating area f the cafeteria. There is bth waiter and cunter service. The WC f the FunPark is used by the patrns f the Café as well. Page 7
