4 HISTORY OF THE UCLA COMMUNITY PROGRAMS OFFICE Established in 1970 by cncerned students, staff and faculty, UCLA Cmmunity Prgrams Office strives t develp persnal grwth by raising ur cnsciusness s that ur experiences and ur management skills becme relevant t cmmunity empwerment and in creating a better wrld fr all humanity. The Department is ne f the mst diverse places n campus, where students frm varius cmmunities cme tgether t learn frm each ther and share each ther's experiences. UCLA Cmmunity Prgrams Office is a place fr students t find a cmmunity away frm hme, a safe space where students can feel cmfrtable enugh t grw and flurish during their time n campus. The Cmmunity Prgrams Office Internship Prgram aims t transfrm students particularly freshmen and transfers int the next generatin f student leaders n campus. As the engine t drive scial change at UCLA and within the larger Ls Angeles cmmunity, students engage in dialgue with members f diverse cmmunities t better understand the climate f underrepresented ppulatins. The students learn, teach, listen and reflect n the wrld we live in. They engage in the wrk f all three centers hused within the Department: Student Retentin Center, Student Initiated Outreach Center and the Cmmunity Prgrams Office. BASIC JOB DESCRIPTIONS Detailed jb descriptins with hurly breakdwn prvided upn hiring Office Intern (10-15 hrs/week at $9.86/hr.) The Office Intern psitin is a develpmental psitin, ideal fr students interested in student and cmmunity rganizing. The interns are the backbne f the daily functining f the department as the innvative and fresh student perspective as well as their administrative rle at the Frnt Desk and assistance they prvide t all prjects and student vlunteers. Basic Duties f Office Intern: Persnal Develpment (i.e., jurnal entries) Attend Weekly Intern Meetings n Tuesdays 4-6p (MANDATORY) Wrk Frnt Desk Shifts! Mnitr the frnt desk! Gas and wash vehicles! Clean the CPO lunge and ther departmental areas! File, make cpies, fax, run errands! Participate in CPO events (MANDATORY) Open Huse: Octber 15 th 10am - 3pm Welcme Receptin: Octber 20 th 5pm - 10pm Intern Retreat Nvember 14 th -16 th End f Year Receptin: May 20 th, pm - 10pm Assist the CPO in its missin f prviding a safe and welcming envirnment fr students Outreach Effrts (i.e., flyering, ffice turs) Attend all CPO events (listed) Administrative Assistant (10-15 hrs/week at $11.29/hr.) The CRC/SIOC/CPOSA administrative assistants must have sme awareness f the purpse f Student Retentin Prjects, Student Initiated Outreach Prjects, and CPO Cmmunity Service Prjects and be sensitive twards the wrk they d. They must be rganized, punctual, prfessinal, self initiated and be able t wrk independently with basic instructins. Basic Duties f Admin Assistant: Schedule, attend and take minutes fr all CRC, SIOC,r CPOSA Cmmittee meetings. Prepare all materials necessary fr CRC, SIOC,r CPOSA Cmmittee meetings, recruitment fairs, and retreats (including agendas, handuts, sign-in sheets, etc.) Create a cntact list f all CRC, SIOC,r CPOSA prjects and maintain a recrd f attendance frm all meetings and events. Archive imprtant dcuments, such as minutes, the Cnstitutin, funding prpsals, cntact lists, etc. in an rderly fashin fr future reference. annuncements and reminders t cmmittee and Prject Directrs. 5 SRC Van Driver (15 hrs/week at $9.86/hr.) The Student Retentin Center prvides a vanpl service fr students during Study Hall frm Mnday-Thursday 7 pm- Midnight. The SRC Van Driver is respnsible fr shuttling students hme within a 15-mile radius unless they are a user f the Cmmuter Van Ride Service. Basic Duties f SRC Van Driver: Respnsible fr safe transprtatin frm SRC Study Hall t their respective place f dwelling; Van Driver s require a recrd f safe practices when perating a mtr vehicle and a valid Driver s Licenses in the state f Califrnia; Must be familiar with rads within a 15 miles radius area surrunding UCLA t ensure the mst effective rutes t drp ff students; Enfrce the Van-Ride plicy that ensures that nly students wh attend study hall are eligible fr a ride Attend all CPO events (listed) Basic Duties f Cmmuter Van-Ride Service Driver: Crdinates rutes fr cmmuter students t respective designatins as utlined by the CRC Drp ff students frm SRC Study Hall t either their hmes r lcal public transprtatin that will decrease the amunt f time it takes t cmmute hme. Attend all CPO events (listed) Technlgy Supprt Team (12-15 hurs/week at $11.07/hr) The Technlgy Team prvides visuals that enhance the department s visibility n campus and thrughut the cmmunity. The Team prvides marketing and prmtinal materials fr CPO prjects and Cmmittees. Must have prficient knwledge f DSLRs & general phtgraphy equipment as well editing sftware such as Lightrm, Phtshp, etc. Knwledge f additinal graphics sftware such as InDesign and Illustratr a plus. Be able t cmmit t at least 1 full academic year 12 t 15 hurs a week. Will have t wrk sme weekend events. Basic Duties f Phtgrapher Respnsible fr phtgraphing all CPO related events. Create visual images fr archival and prmtinal purpses. Edit and digitally enhance images, crp pictures, and crrect minr faults. Wrk with clients t discuss the images they require and hw they want t use them.
