Research & nterprise is an innovative department within the university which works with staff, employers, students and graduates to increase graduate employability and external income generation. Graduate level and overall employment of our alumni is critical to the future success of the institution. Significant recent progress has been made in these areas which must be maintained and built upon. As part of a new approach to partnership working with academic colleagues, the Careers and mployability Team have adopted a new college based approach. This will raise the profile, and level of engagement with the service from both staff and students, whilst maintaining a flexible team that will come together every week to work on crossinstitutional initiatives and central delivery. JOB PURPOS This position is a key element within the Careers & mployability team, working to enhance graduate and student employability through multiple interventions and collaboration with colleges, schools and services throughout the university and employers beyond. The role will work closely with the Head of Careers and mployability to ensure the development and delivery of an effective College-based support service and initiatives for staff and students. Critical to this will be the effective line management of the Careers and mployability Advisers and mployment Skills Advisers to enhance employability services offered within the curriculum and centrally. The role will provide professional support and line management for the Careers and Page 1 of 7

2 mployability Advisers/ mployment Skills Advisers, helping to co-ordinate employer engaged careers guidance and advice to students and graduates. This will ensure progress against critical employability indicators and University Key Performance ndicators (i.e. graduate level employment and overall employment) is maintained and built upon. The successful candidate will take a lead role in co-ordinating and developing employability projects and collaborations between key partners (internal and external), with a view to impacting upon the university's employability objectives. n addition, the role will offer operational delivery support across all colleges. 3 KY RSPONSBLTS Strategic Support To support the Head of Careers and mployability in the delivery of an employability and engagement strategy targeted at employers, students and graduates through both effective line management of the Careers and mployability Advisers/ mployment Skills Advisers and operational delivery across the Colleges. The implemented strategy will increase employer and student attendance at events and usage of careers and employability support services. To work with the mployability nformation Manager and Head of Careers & mployability to support in the delivery of the Destination of Leavers from Higher ducation survey (DLH), and to support with the dissemination of such results to effectively build on partnership working across the institution. To work with the Head of Careers & mployability to ensure that the service is compliant with the national quality standards, best practice and codes of conduct e.g. Matrix quality assessment frameworks. Line Management To provide effective line management and expert advice to Careers and mployability Advisers/ mployment Skills Advisers in the planning, design and delivery of careers education for students and graduates within their respective Colleges and to support the central services offered across subject disciplines. To support the Head of Careers & mployability in leading the team to the achievement of critical employability indicators. To ensure delivery of an effective client focused service which is mindful of customer journey and satisfaction whilst working towards university employability targets. Project Management To take a lead role in co-coordinating, developing and initiating key employability projects within the service (e.g. mployability Mentoring), ensuring effective 'roll out' within the Colleges; whilst taking on responsibilities for centrally run activities e.g. nterprise and mployability Week, working with all relevant partners (internal and external). To develop and implement, with the Business ncubation Manager, strategies to improve the engagement and awareness of staff, students and graduates with respect to selfemployment options and pathways. To assist with the co-ordination and delivery of college specific employer engagement activity this will contribute to the support services offered and opportunities available for the University of Lincoln students and graduates. Delivery To identify and provide additional operational support across Colleges in delivering a professional careers guidance service to students and graduates through all effective routes (e.g. One-to-one, group work, e-communication etc); and to provide flexible support to delivery staff. To manage a caseload of clients agreed with the Head of Careers & mployability to Page 3 of 7

4 support an effective service. To contribute to the development and delivery of a programme of careers and employability events and workshops. To provide appropriate expertise, professional advice and support to staff, students, graduates and employers. This will have a particular focus on establishing an employer engaged guidance and advisory service. This will include assisting academic colleagues design and deliver careers and employability programmes, and working alongside key partners such as the Students Union and Alumni. Marketing Promotion To support the Head of Careers & mployability and nformation Manager in the effective promotion of the services to all internal and external stakeholders. To attend external events on behalf of the careers and employability team. To participate in relevant working groups, both internally and externally to the university. To network effectively with external stakeholders to raise the profile of the university, and support.
