1 Psitin reprts t: Mayr and Cuncil Public Wrks Emplyee Psitin Functin: Test and mnitr all water and wastewater systems fr quality and prper peratin per DNR regulatins, maintain streets, curbs and sidewalks in gd repair and safe cnditin, maintain all City-wned buildings and equipment in mechanically and structurally sund cnditin, mw and maintain City parks, pl and ther City-wned prperty as required and assist in enfrcement f applicable City cdes. Perfrm a variety f administrative, skilled, technical and maintenance wrk in the planning, rganizing, cnstructin, peratin, repair, maintenance and replacement f City sewer, street, strm drainage, parks, pls, and ther public facilities, systems, equipment and structures. Majr Respnsibilities: Essential Tasks: Assist with planning, scheduling and implement f maintenance, peratin and cnstructin activities and wrk flw designed t prvide quality sewer, street, drainage and ther public services fr the City. Assist with the cntrl and use f, and assumes respnsibility fr all materials, supplies, and equipment used in the maintenance, cnstructin, and/r repair f sewer, street, drainage, and ther public facilities fr the City. Submits and maintains a variety f lgs and recrds related t department peratins. Cmpses, cmpletes and maintains a variety f reprts and recrds relating t equipment, supplies, and peratins f the department, as required. Oversees the safety f all assigned persnnel by instructing individuals in prper safety prcedures and mnitring and enfrcing said prcedures at the wrk site(s). Assists in the preparatin f bid specificatins fr equipment, materials, supplies and facilities. Assists in the crdinatin f the dispsitin f used and surplus City prperty. Water: Read ttal system water meter t determine daily use in gallns; reprt results t prper authrities. Test water fr chlrine and plyphsphate levels n daily basis; maintain recrds f chlrine and plyphsphate usage. Read private water meters as needed, hang shut-ff ntices, shut ff water t huses as necessary, repair and/r replace water meters as required, install new water meters as required. Drain water twer fr inspectin and/r painting n an annual basis. Inspect twer fr scratches r chipped paint. Flush fire hydrants n a semi-annually basis and repair r replace as needed. Lcate, repair and/r replace water mains and service lines as needed. Cmplete and file mnthly and annual water reprts t regulatry authrities as required. Attend training sessins t maintain Water Certificatin Grade II Treatment and Grade II Distributin thrugh Iwa Department f Natural Resurces. Attend WISCA safety meetings as needed. Sewer: Measure sewer lagns depth fr all cells n mnthly basis, cntrl discharge rate f lagn when needed.

2 Streets: Grunds: Take and submit sewer samples fr testing as needed. Operate backup pump at lift statin as necessary, read hur meters and recrd usage. Operate sewer-cleaning apparatus as needed. Lcate, repair and/r replace sewer mains, service lines and manhles. Attend training sessins t maintain Wastewater/Lagn Certificatin Grade II thrugh Iwa Department f Natural Resurces. Oversees the analysis f wastewater, sludge and effluent samples t prvide data fr the efficient peratin f the wastewater treatment plant, pumping, and cllectin systems. Oversees the peratin and maintenance f the sewage treatment t insure cmpliance with any and all State and Federal guidelines gverning such systems and serves as systems peratr. Supervises, instructs and assists assigned crews in installing and/r repairing sewer system cmpnents. Crdinate all maintenance activities n City streets, sidewalks, and curbs such as grading, cnstructin, repair r recnstructin. Cmpile list f sidewalks needing repair and/r replacement, inspect all frms t ensure Cde cmpliance, install City sidewalks as required. Maintain all City signs, paint crsswalks and parking markings. Maintain, install, clean and repair strm sewers and catch basins as needed. Spray weeds alng radways when needed. Mix salt and sand annually fr applicatin t streets as needed. Remve snw, ice and debris frm streets and sidewalks as needed. Trim trees ver streets and sidewalks as needed. Oversee the prper use and replacement f traffic cntrl devices t assure cmpliance with the Manual n Unifrm Traffic Cntrl Devices (MUTCD). Clean sewers and intakes, apply and tamp patching materials t pavement hles, spread gravel, lad and unlad materials and equipment, perate a snw plw, spread sand and salt n rad surfaces, drive vehicles frm pick-up trucks t tractrs as required, mw weeds and grass in the right-f-way and park and City-wned areas, raise and lwer manhles and perfrm the masnry wrk invlved, build simple frms and perfrm varius cncrete wrk. Maintain grunds n all City prperty. Trim and/r remve trees n City prperty as needed. Spray weeds when needed. Electric: Read private electric meters as needed, hang shut-ff ntices, shut ff electric t huses as necessary, repair and/r replace electric meters as required, install new electric meters as required. Lcate, repair and/r replace electric lines as needed. Majr electric wrk will be cntracted ut. D annual inspectins f sectins f twn t cmply with the Iwa Utility Bard s Inspectin Plan. Attend training sessins t maintain knwledge f the electric utility thrugh Iwa Assciatin f Municipal Utilities. Attend training t maintain knwledge f the utility s lad management system. Lcate, repair and/r replace lad management switches as needed.

3 Pl: Equipment: Miscellaneus: Trim trees that hang int the electric lines as needed and per Iwa Utility Bard s Inspectin Plan. Be able t attain and maintain a Certified Pl Operatr Certificatin. Read and nte water quality readings f the pl daily during peratins. Maintain chemical readings during peratins. Flush baby pl and clean as needed. Flush filters as needed. Safely perate all City equipment n apprpriate applicatins as needed, fllwing all OSHA regulatins. Becme familiar with all perating manuals fr all City equipment and fllw all f the listed prper perating prcedures t preserve the life f the equipment. Perfrm general and preventative maintenance wrk n all City equipment as required. Maintain an Iwa Cmmercial Driver s License (CDL) Class B with airbrakes. Insure that all necessary tls, materials, supplies and equipment are available fr the peratins under his/her supervisin by maintaining an apprpriate inventry f said items. Insure the prper maintenance f tls, equipment, and City facilities under his/her supervisin by supervising, instructing, and participating in the maintenance f such items. Develp shp prcedures and budget data fr the maintenance and repair f City vehicles, mechanical equipment and ther facilities. Operate and maintain heavy maintenance equipment which may include the fllwing dump truck, perate and maintain sanitary sewer lift statins and perate and maintain pumps and cntrls fr the system. Check il, clant, etc., n equipment befre peratin; perate equipment and tls in such a manner as t prevent injury t himself/herself, t fellw wrkers, t prperty and equipment. Reprt damage r majr maintenance requirements f equipment r facilities as sn as pssible t their supervisr. Operate a variety f diagnstic instruments and a variety f hand, electric and air-driven tls. Prvide recmmendatins regarding imprvements and acquisitins necessary fr the efficient and effective peratins f the City. Perfrm minr maintenance n all City buildings as required. Cmpile list f abandned vehicles, reprt vehicles parked n streets r n City prperty beynd legal time limits. Dispse f dead animals and ther dispsable items as needed. Dispse f material depsited in cmpst site as needed. Put up and maintain City decratins at apprpriate times. Will include watering flwers and trees as needed. Inspect building sites t ensure zning regulatin cmpliance, lcate prperty pins as requested. Lcate all utilities as the Iwa One Call Lcate ntices cme in t City Hall. Ensure cmpliance with OSHA and ther safety regulatins including psting, equipment and prcedures. Prperly fllw directin frm supervisr. Wear a City supplied pager r keep a City cellular telephne with yu at all times, unless yur supervisr has been infrmed and apprved f yur unavailability in advance. A respnse time

4 f fifteen (15) minutes is required in the event f a City emergency requiring maintenance persnnel. Perfrm a variety f ther skilled r related wrks as directed r required. Review private prject develpment plans fr cmpliance with City peratin and maintenance bjectives. Oversee the maintenance and update f infrastructure and ther assigned recrds. Assist in the planning and crdinatin f City building prjects. Prvide infrmatin and respnd t inquiries frm cntractrs, prperty wners, staff, and the general public regarding assigned areas f respnsibility. Discretinary Tasks: Order parts and/r supplies fr varius prjects and equipment as needed. Attend City Cuncil meetings as required t reprt activities, answer questins and btain apprval fr prjects when required. Order any and all materials and supplies as are necessary fr the prper maintenance and care f the City accrding t established, financial management directives. Serves n varius emplyee r ther cmmittees as assigned. May n ccasin be called upn t respnd t fficial r public requests fr infrmatin regarding the peratins f the department r t attend meetings where such is discussed. Cntacts: The incumbent in this psitin makes frequent cntact with the City Clerk t exchange and interpret infrmatin. Als makes weekly cntact with the Mayr t exchange and interpret infrmatin. Cntacts with residents are significant and regular and usually invlve the exchange and cnveyance f infrmatin. Cntacts made with persns utside the City are infrequent and are usually with vendrs and/r cntractrs and invlve the exchange and interpretatin f infrmatin regarding City prjects r supplies and equipment purchases. Equipment Used: Office equipment including calculatr, phne, cpy machine, and fax machine. Pipe lcatr, pressure gauges, testing equipment, mbile r prtable radi, varius mechanic s tls, air tls, electrnic vehicle diagnstic tls and ther tls required fr minr repairs and rutine maintenance f mtr vehicles and equipment, simple surveying equipment, backhe, sewer cleaning apparatus, trucks, skid lader, street sweeper, mwing equipment, vide camera, sund recrding equipment, varius hand and pwer tls and ther equipment needed t perfrm duties. Mst pwer equipment requires specific peratinal and maintenance training. Perfrms minr maintenance activities n mst pwer equipment. Other varius, related tls and equipment is listed abve under Essential Duties. Qualificatins: Educatin & Experience Must be a high schl graduate.

5 OR Any equivalent cmbinatin r related, advanced, educatin and prgressively respnsible experience, with additinal wrk experience substitutin fr the required educatin n a year fr year basis. Must pssess valid Water Treatment Certificatin Grade I and Grade I Distributin thrugh Iwa Department f Natural Resurces and ability t achieve Grade II Water Treatment Certificatin and Grade II Distributin within ne (1) year f emplyment. Must pssess a current valid Iwa CDL Class B with airbrakes driver s license. Must pssess a valid Certified Pl Operatr license within ne (1) year f emplyment. Wrk Envirnment The wrk envirnment characteristics described here are representative f thse an emplyee encunters while perfrming the essential functins. While perfrming the duties f this jb, the emplyee usually wrks utside in varying weather cnditins. The emplyee ccasinally wrks in high, precarius places and is ccasinally expsed t wet and/r humid cnditins, fumes r airbrne particles, txic r caustic chemicals, risk f electrical shck, and vibratin. The emplyee ccasinally wrks near mving mechanical parts. The nise level in the wrk envirnment is usually quiet while in an ffice setting and mderately nisy when in the field setting.
