General Summary of Function/Purpose of Position The person in this position is responsible for planning and implementing eight regional one-day conferences annually, with total attendance exceeding 1,900 attendees each year. Produces a quarterly newsletter which is distributed to more than 8,000 health care providers in Michigan. Works with a number of professional associations to provide them with up-to-date immunization information for their members. These groups include the statewide associations that represent Michigan s health care providers and Michigan s health care organizations. Position develops immunization educational materials for health care providers, parents, and the general public, and revises materials as needed. Coordinates the distribution of immunization educational materials (brochures, flyers, etc), primarily through the MDHHS Clearinghouse. Position works with Division management to formulate the information and education strategy for the Immunization Division as it related to these functions. This person is the lead staff member who is responsible for having materials posted on the MDHHS website, including working with management and other staff on overall website strategy. Responsible for working with management and with the Communications Division to formulate and implement the Division s social media strategy. Work with other individuals within the Division to develop outreach strategies to educate and inform healthcare providers and the public on the value of vaccines in todays society.

Duty 1 General Summary: Percentage: 30 Plan and implement eight regional one-day conferences annually, with total attendance exceeding 1,900 attendees each year. Create and chair conference planning committee to plan agenda and speakers for each conference. Coordinate the development of conference goals and objectives, agendas, and related materials. Select conference facilities. egotiate contracts with conference facilities. Oversee the registration arrangements. Work with appropriate organizations to arrange for continuing education credits. Travel to all the conferences and oversee each conference. Arrange for conference promotion. Evaluate conferences. Duty 2 Promote consumer education through the development of vaccine information for health care providers, parents, and the general public. Develop and revise pamphlets, brochures, and flyers related to immunization for distribution to health care providers, parents, and the general public. Develop immunization related materials to be posted on the MDHHS website. Develop and implement information and education activities to be used at conferences. Determine the effectiveness of tasks 1-3 above. Duty 3 General Summary: Percentage: 20 Oversee the planning and implementation of the Division s MDHHS website content. Work with management and other staff to plan the Division s overall strategy related to the content that it has posted on the MDHHS website. Assure that Division materials that are to be posted on the MDHHS website are ADA-compliant. (ADA = Americans with Disabilities Act). Assure that the Division s website content is kept up-to-date and that old content that is no longer viewed is deleted from the website. Evaluate the effectiveness of the Division s web content, using analytics software. Duty 4

3 Lead the Division in the area of submitting Continuing Education applications. Work with appropriate organizations to arrange for continuing education credits. Work with the urse Education Program in applying for continuing education credits for the Immunization Education Modules. Duty 5 Produce a quarterly newsletter which is distributed to more than 8,000 health care providers in Michigan. Create and chair a newsletter planning committee to plan content for each issue. Elicit content material. Write articles. Edit copy. Design layout. Assure that the newsletter is approved by the MDHHS Communications Division before being distributed. Oversee the electronic distribution of the newsletter. Duty 6 Work with Division management to formulate the overall information and education strategy for the Immunization Division as it relates to these functions. Work with management and staff to formulate and implement a social media strategy. This will also involve working with the MDHHS Communications Division. Work with management and staff to formulate and implement an overall information and education strategy. This will involve working with staff who are involved in various education functions, such as the Immunization Education nurses, the Perinatal Hepatitis B program, and the Influenza Education staff. Duty 7 Support the Division with surge capacity coverage within the Community Health Education Communication Center (CHECC). Work with management to have cross training at the CHECC in times of emergencies involving vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) s. Work with management to provide vaccine information and education strategies during emergencies and support staffing if needed at the CHECC. Duties will include those as assigned by management during VPD outbreak emergencies. 16. Describe the types of decisions made independently in this position and tell who or what is affected by those decisions. Decisions related to conference site selection, conference site contract negotiation, distribution of education materials, and provision of training information to local health departments. These decisions affect MDHHS and division central office staff, immunization program field staff, and local health department immunization staff.

Decisions that cannot be tied to precedence or that do not have written or verbal references, guidelines, mandates or instructions. Any materials to be shared outside of the Department and conference planning activities require supervisor s review. 18. What kind of physical effort is used to perform this job? The number of conferences that are held every fall has expanded to eight conferences. The AIM Provider Tool Kits are no longer produced. The Division now uses the MDHHS website much more extensively as a way to distribute educational materials. This position is now more involved in submitting continuing education applications for the Division (e.g, this position submits the continuing education applications for the Immunization urse Education Program.) 25. What is the function of the work area and how does this position fit into that function? The Immunization Program conducts many activities and programs in the State to promote immunization of Michigan s residents and to reduce and eliminate the occurrence of vaccine-preventable diseases. This position serves to promote more effective immunization practices by health care providers and to educate parents and the general public about the importance of immunizations. 26. What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position. EDUCATIO: Possession of a bachelor's degree in behavioral science, child, family and human relations, clinical psychology, community or consumer services, family and consumer resources, guidance and counseling, home economics, human or family ecology, human development or services, human resources development (human services), organizational behavioral science, psychology, rehabilitation counseling or administration, social science, or social services. 5 Resource Program Analyst 12 Three years of professional experience in evaluating, planning and developing human services programs, including one year of experience equivalent to a Resource Program Analyst 11. Alternate Education and Experience Resource Program Analyst 9-12 State Transitional Professional (STP): Applicants who have attained status within the Department of Human Services (DHS) at the experienced (E) level of any human services classification, and possess a bachelor s degree (in any major), qualify to enter the Resource Program Analyst classification through the State Transitional Professional classification.
