Wrking alngside the Directr, and the rest f the team, yu will facilitate the delivery f the Cmpany s wrk as ne f the UK s leading utdr perfrmance and street theatre cmpanies. Yu will be supprted by the wider Mischief Family f freelance Perfrmers, Artists, Designers, Musicians and Cstume Makers. It s been a time f change at Mischief fllwing the death f Ian Smith, (C-funder and Artistic Directr) in Sarah Jean Cuzens, ur Cmpany Manager and Prducer fr ver twelve years, is leaving in March The existing team and new bard have been wrking tgether t review hw the cmpany wrks and are in the prcess f creating a new charitable rganisatin. With the supprt f Creative Sctland, thrugh three year regular funding, we have created a new rganisatinal structure and this new rle will lead the prgramme f change and cntribute t ur missin t gently warp the underlay f the fabric f sciety. With the Directr, the Prducer is respnsible fr the successful implementatin f the Business Plan ( ) and delivery f a high quality prgramme f activities in line with the artistic visin f the cmpany. Additinally, yu will be respnsible fr the effective financial management f the cmpany; ensuring the delivery f all aspects f the Cmpany s peratins; the strategic management f all resurces; and ensuring the lng-term sustainability f the rganisatin. This is a key rle in the leadership team f Mischief La-Bas and is directly appinted by the Bard. It requires an empathy with the Cmpany s eths and artistic visin in rder t fully realise the strategic bjectives f the cmpany and deliver the artistic ambitin. 2
3 BACKGROUND INFORMATION Mischief La-Bas is an utdr perfrmance and street theatre cmpany which has been perfrming t peple acrss Sctland and beynd fr ver 20 years. It was established in 1992 as a partnership between Ian Smith and Angie Dight after a spell wrking with the anarchic French Circus Archas where they were expsed t and influenced by Eurpean street theatre. Mischief La-Bas began with a tw year nightclub residency at The Arches in Glasgw. Thereafter, the Cmpany evlved significantly and grew rganically, presenting accessible, interactive and surreal perfrmances aimed at gently warping the underlay f the fabric f sciety in bth public and private places. Much f the time the perfrmances were made n the street and evlved thrugh the interactin between the perfrmers and the public. We aren t scared f the public we are the public Of the 20 r s perfrmers currently with Mischief La-Bas, mst have been with the cmpany between 10 and 20 years. They are highly skilled at imprvisatinal interactin and are essential in the creatin prcess and the develpment f the perfrmances. In recent times, bth yunger and experienced perfrmers have been added t the Cmpany, bringing new skills suitable fr the develpment f new types f wrk. In the Cmpany s first 12 years, almst all wrk was cmmercially funded. Cuncil and crprate clients alike wuld select frm the 25 r s manifestatins r acts n ffer when bking entertainment. Mischief La-Bas was frtunate t secure residencies with nightclubs, bars, sprts venues and shpping centres. Occasinally, the Cmpany created bespke wrk fr clients and, t this day, still gains Cmmissins frm clients t develp new wrk fr them. Althugh the number f manifestatins have been slimmed dwn in recent times, the Cmpany still endeavurs t cntinue with this type f wrk. The Cmpany als cntinues t create mid t large scale shws fr bth utdr festivals and indr venues. Mischief La-Bas has had significant supprt frm Creative Sctland since 2009 which has allwed it t present wrk t new audiences acrss Sctland, reaching cmmunities wh may nt have easy access t the arts either thrugh lack f funding r the remteness f their lcatin. This funding has als allwed the Cmpany t cntinually create and develp new wrk enabling it t bth experiment and develp as leaders in the field f utdr perfrmance in the UK. Additinally, Mischief La-Bas cntinues t develp an internatinal reputatin, thrugh relatinships with Eurpean artists and festivals, as well as participatin in frums, debates and residencies. The Cmpany wrks primarily in the public dmain meaning that the wrk (in the frm f street theatre r utdr perfrmance) is free t the audience, thus allwing fr greater accessibility fr all and engagement fr every type f persn. 4 Organisatinal Structure & Gvernance Mischief La-Bas is a Limited Cmpany guaranteed by shares, with a Bard f Directrs. rganisatin by early The rganisatin aims t becme a registered charitable Under the guidance f the Bard, the artistic directin and identity f the cmpany is managed by The Directr, and the verall management f the cmpany is verseen by the Prducer. The Directr and Prducer are supprted by a small team: The Creative Manager (Andrew Blackwd) wrks with the Directr t devise new prjects, undertake client liaisn, shape cmmissins, and is als respnsible fr marketing and prmtin. Prject Manager (Luise Allan) is mainly respnsible fr the delivery f Creative Sctland funded prjects and repertire perfrmances. 7 SALARY & TERMS Jb Title: Reprting t: Salary: Hurs: Hlidays: PRODUCER Bard f Directrs 32,500-35,000 per annum (negtiable) Cntract until March 2018, subject t an initial three-mnth prbatinary perid 35 hurs per week. The pst hlder will be expected t wrk flexible hurs with ccasinal evenings and weekends when required. MLB des nt pay vertime, but a time ff in lieu system is in place 28 days per year including Bank Hlidays Mischief Las Bas is cmmitted t supprting equality and diversity thrugh all ur plicies and peratin, and will endeavr t meet individual needs f staff.
