They will provide advice to nternational Students through all parts of their student Journey from application to graduation, including: ssuing of Cettificates of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) using the Home Office Sponsorship Management System Meeting with nternational Students to discuss issues relation to their visa such as nonattendance and changing courses. The postholder will proactively monitor and report nternational student's immigration and engagement status to the Home Office in regular returns and ensure that Manchester Metropolitan
2 is compliant with the Home Office Points Based System (PBS) requirements for the Tier 4 general student route. They will provide feedback to Senior Management on issues relating to the Home Offices requirements including carrying out audits, delivering training and providing reports on the status of nternational Students Key Tasks FRST-LN ADVC AND GUDANC Provide detailed and complex information to walk-in enquirers in the Student Hubs in relation to a range of queries, referring students, including those whom nglish is not their first language, to other sources of information and members of staff where appropriate. This information could have serious implications on the Student s future, including their ability to continue their studies and immigration. Communicate complex information (taking into consideration how best to communicate given cultural and language barriers of international students) and ensure they receive appropriate and accurate information about entry requirements to the University, following strict guidelines under the Home Office s PBS, clarification of processes, and checking students understand the material or information provided. dentify and pursue opportunities for developing and improving first-level advice and guidance on immigration compliance matters. Provide accurate, detailed and complex information/advice to continuing international students who require a CAS, troubleshooting problems as they arise and recognising when problem cases should be referred to others. MANAGMNT OF HOM OFFC COMPLANC Work alongside Job4Students and Human Resources to monitor Tier 4 visas and potential risk of work breaches. Make effective use of the University Student record and The nternational Offices administrative systems, so that timely and accurate reports are generated in a variety of formats as required by the department, external bodies and internal groups/committees. Manage individual student records and accurately update crucial information on the relevant internal and external (home office) systems in order to comply with the sector s obligations, under the PBS.
3 Undertake Level 1 User responsibilities on the Home Office Sponsorship Management System (SMS), including issuing of Certificate of Acceptance of Studies and amending live data and reporting responsibilities, adhering to strict criteria as detailed in the CAS service level agreements and related policies. Produce and regularly review appropriate information and documents to enable international students to support their visa application to the UK, ensuring the University holds the necessary information to meet Home Office auditing requirements, enabling Manchester Met to continue to engage in the recruiting and teaching of nternational students. stablish and facilitate the development of internal procedures to ensure that they are maintained, this includes to monitor and supervise the procedures are in place to ensure compliance throughout the Tier 4 students journey. Manage and lead on pre-enrolment and implement re-registration activities of international students in accordance with the University requirements. Monitor the immigration status of international students on a monthly basis and action the Procedures for Student Withdrawal and Suspension of studies when students do not have permission to be in the UK. Monitor, investigate and report to the Home Office on all new incoming students to the University if they fail to enrol, transfer courses, withdraw or suspend, working closely with Admissions to withdraw CAS's of students who have failed to enrol. Complete bi-monthly audits of student status changes. nvestigate and report to the Home Office any change in nternational Students' circumstance, ensuring the student is aware of the reporting implication to their future immigration status in the UK. Work with staff in Academic Services to collect details of placements and report these to the Home Office. Monitor and keep the University informed of national policy development concerning Tier 4 immigration and visa requirements. STUDNT RCORDS - MANTNANC AND RPORTNG Maintain administrative systems to support the work of the team and facilitate the sharing of information ensuring effective service delivery. Produce accurate data and reports in a variety of formats as required by external bodies and internal groups/committees.
4 nable the Director of the nternational Office to understand and analyse feedback from internal and external research which will support the improvement of the student experience, particularly with regard to compliance issues. TAMWORK Be proactive in supporting international students and colleagues within the nternational Office Provide training, advice and guidance to new members of staff in relation to shared areas of work. Take responsibility for defined areas of work, and also to work flexibly to achieve team objectives by assisting others and working collaboratively to complete and deliver tasks and projects. Manage the nternational Compliance and xperience Administrator, supporting the Director of the nternational Office in the PDR process and identifying further operational training needs. Be responsible for supervising the student ambassadors and help the team complete work during peak periods. LASON AND NTWORKNG Liaise with members of the team, Faculty Programme Officers, Faculty and Campus Student Life Officers in order to ensure critical and accurate information is provided to the Home Office, build relationships with these staff to facilitate and proactively develop more effective ways of supporting nternational students. Work closely with colleagues from Admissions, Data and nformation Services, Faculty Student and Academic Services, Finance and Legal Services to support the development and implementation of Tier 4 monitoring systems. Demonstrating continuous professional development, attend relevant external training, meetings and events as required, to keep up to date with national developments. Apply this knowledge in the role and ensure colleagues are provided with regular updates. Design and deliver presentations/workshops/training for both staff and students regarding their responsibilities under the Tier 4 general student route of the PBS, ensuring that content is accurate and reflects the latest external guidelines. Special Features The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to provide cover for and/or work in collaboration with colleagues within the team and to support the Director of nternational and mmigration and
