3 1. Executive Summary The lease area of Mine of Pirabhai Valabhai Nandasaniya Pvt. Ltd. (Survey no. 139 Paiki) is situated near Village -Jaswantgadh, Taluka - Danta, District - Banaskantha (Gujarat). This lease had been Transfer granted by district office dated for 10 years. The lease area comprises wholly of Govt. waste land ha). This is a working quarry which is worked upon by open cast semi-mechanized method. Proposed rate of production is TPA. The project cost is Rs. 7,00,000. The expected life of mine will be 10 Years. Building Stone deposits are source for demand in construction work in all sectors. Jaswantgadh Building Stone deposits are huge source of for construction works in Banaskantha and surrounding districts. Pirabhai Valabhai Nandasaniya Building Stone Pvt. Ltd. is working mines operating since As per the statuary obligation this project needs environmental clearance from department of Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). For grant of lease and to start quarrying operations (production) Accordingly project proponent has submitted form 1, pre-feasibility report and copy of Approval letter from department of mines and geology Gujarat, to the state level environmental assessment authority of Gujarat constituted by MOEF, GOI for issuing environmental clearance, as per EIA, September notification. 2. Introduction of the project/ Background information Identification of project and project proponent. In case of mining project, a copy of mining lease/ letter of intent should be given. The lease area of Mine (Survey no. 139 Paiki) is situated near Village - Jaswantgadh, Taluka - Danta, District - Banaskantha (Gujarat). This lease had been Transfer granted by district office dated for 10 years. The lease area comprises wholly of Govt. waste land ( ha). This is a working quarry which is worked upon by open cast semi-mechanized method. Proposed rate of production is TPA. The project cost is Rs. 7,00,000. The expected life of mine will be 10 Years.

4 (i) (ii) Brief description of nature of the project. The existing mine is providing TPA of Building Stone rock by opencast semimechanized method. The lease area is ha. Lease area is totally govt. waste land. The total mineable reserves available here are 12,02,600 tons. The expected life of mine is 31 Years. Total over burden generated during the life of mine will be About 1,20,260 tons, which will be used to fill the voids generated due to excavated pits. The backfilled area will be reclaimed by plantation. The excavated mineral is sent to crushing plant for sizing and sorting. At the conceptual stage total ha area will be excavated out of which hec. Will be backfilled and reclaimed by plantation. Water requirement for project for domestic use, dust suppression and plantation will be 6.0 KLD which will be met through Open well situated outside the lease area. Need for the project and its importance to the country and/or region. Building Stone is used as a construction material worldwide. Building Stone is used as raw material in construction of building and infrastructure projects. Need for the Project Primary Secondary Primary Needs: - 1. This project is located at Jaswantgadh, Taluka Danta, and Dist. Banaskantha. It is contribution enhancing state production of Building Stone. The exiting capacity of this project is TPA. 2. Building Stone is essential construction of building and infrastructure projects. Secondary Needs: - The villagers of nearby villages have more employment opportunities. Transportation business is growing due to project. Importance to the country and region:- In India, mining Industry contributes significantly to its economy. The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) contribution of mining industry varies from 2.2% to 2.5% only but total industrial sector contributes around 10% to 11%.Even small scaled mining contributes 6% to the entire cost of minerals production. The working mine contribute in the State s minerals production and improve the GDP with a positive & important effect on the region.

5 (iii) Demand-Supply Gap. As is used as raw material in construction of building and infrastructure projects, the demand of is increasing day by day. In past, demand was not too much but now a days due to rapid industrialization and urbanization its demand increasing with pace of time. At present, demand of is more than the supply. (iv) Imports vs. Indigenous production. There will be no import for the project. The indigenously produced machinery will be used and the excavated mineral will be for domestic market. (v) Export Possibility. There are no export possibilities from the proposed mining activity. (vi) Domestic / export Markets. At Present Building Stone are used in temples, mosques and public buildings of architectural importance. Their west chips and powder are used in the manufacture of mosaic tiles and fat line in chemical industries respectively. viii. EMPLOYMENT GENERATION (DIRECT AND INDIRECT) DUE TO THE PROJECT Direct Employment Manager: - 1 Nos. (As per MMR 1961) Mining Mate: - 1 Nos. Mine Workers: - 08 Nos. Indirect Employment:- Transportation is required. Hence jobs and business opportunities in logistical activities have come up. 3. Project Description i. Type of project including interlinked and interdependent projects, if any. Project is a small scale semi mechanized mining project. This project does not have interlink or interdependency on any other project. ii. Location (map showing general location, specific location, and project boundary & project site layout) with coordinates. The lease area of the quarry lease is situated near village Jaswantgadh, Taluka Danta and District- Banaskantha. The lease area falls within the Survey of India top sheet no. 45/D/12. The location of the mine boundary lies between the following geographical coordinates:-

Details of alternate sites considered and the basis of selecting the proposed site, particularly the environmental considerations gone into should be highlighted. This is working opencast mine. No alternate sites were considered as this is site specific project. Size or magnitude of operation. Iv.1 Geology Iv.1.1 Regional Geology The Banaskantha district covers in area of 10,456 Sq. Km. is northern side is bordered the Rajasthan state, while its eastern, western and southern boundaries are marked by the Sabarkantha district, little Rann of Kachchh and the Mehsana district repectively. The majority of the area is occupied by alluvium. There are variety of building stones of the district, such as Building Stone near Ambaji, granite near Dantiwada dam and Umedpura, Crytilline limestone around Danta and Amirgadh and quartzite near Palanpur. 7 The majority of the area is occupied by alluvium. There is an open well situated 500mt. from the area. During rainy season the water table in the well raises to about 20mt. below the surface and in summer season the water table goes down to about 25mt. below the surface. The underground water will not be encountered at any stage of mining. Mineral Reserves - The Mineral reserve of the lease area 12,02,600 tons. Production Parameters: The present capacity / year are 44,400 TPA. The expected life of mine will be 10 Years v. Project description with process details (a schematic diagram/ flow chart showing the project layout, components of the project etc. should be given Method for developing and working the deposits The mine will be worked by means of opencast semi-mechanized method which includes drilling, loading and transportation. Opencast mining The proposed operations will be carried out by open cast semi-mechanized method. The salient features of proposed mining method are:- It is proposed to carry out mining by semi-mechanised opencast method. No or very limited blasting operations will be carried out wherever necessary. As stated earlier, the height of the benches will be maintained at 3 to 6m. The Building Stone block will be made by use of wire saw cutting machine, hydraulic pressure Jack and also use JCB for lifting of overburden & crack block will be loaded into tippers by JCB and Crane. The Building Stone despatch able blocks will be loaded into trucks by crane & crack block will be loaded into tippers by JCB and Crane. Wherever, blasting is necessary for big boulders or crack blocks will be changed to small size and easily loading into trucks. Loading Loading of excavated mineral and mineral rejects will be done by excavator on dumpers. vi. Raw material required along with estimated quantity, likely source, marketing area of final product/s, Mode of transport of raw Material and Finished Product. No raw material will be required for the production of mineral. vii. Resource optimization/ recycling and reuse envisaged in the project, if any, should be briefly outlined. Not envisaged. viii. Availability of water its source, Energy/ power requirement and source should be given. Water is required for drinking and cutting purpose. Open well near by the mine site will provide the water for all the purposes. Electricity is available at a pressure of 440 Volts nearby the mining lease area from UGVCL. ix. Quantity of wastes to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for their Management/disposal. As stated earlier, there will be no generation of waste in the area. About 44,400 Te. of mineral rejects generated during first five years period will be sold simultaneously to the grinding units for manufacturing of powder. So no stacking or managements of dump position will be created.

10 4. Site Analysis Connectivity. Railway: Palanpur 43.4 km. Airport: Ahmedabad km. Highway: SH km. (ii) Land Form, Land use and Land ownership. The existing mining lease area is undulating area covered by hard rock. The lease area is Strip mines quarry under landuse/landcover category. Land Ownership: Total land of mining lease area is Forest land and it is converted to mining area by forest department. (iii) Topography (along with map). The lease area is undulating and hilly reason and General slope of the area is towards SW. Average height of the lease area is about 445 m from MSL. Contour Plan around Lease Area. (iv) Existing land use pattern (agriculture, non-agriculture, forest, water bodies (including area under CRZ)), shortest distances from the periphery of the project to periphery of the forests, national park, wild life sanctuary, eco sensitive areas, water bodies (distance from the HFL of the river), CRZ. In case of notified industrial area, a copy of the Gazette notification should be given. Landuse pattern: The area falls under Level 1 category of Barren Land and level 2 categories of Strip Mine & Quarry. Lease area is located at 2.67 kilometer distance from Khubhariya Reserve forest. No National park, wild life sanctuary, Eco sensitive areas falls under 10 kilometer radius from the lease area. CRZ is not applicable to the lease area. (v) Existing Infrastructure. Railway: Palanpur at 43.4 Km distances. Airport: Ahmedabad at Km distances. Highway: State Highway no. 56 at Km distances. Power: Nearby villages Koteshvar, Chikhla and Kumbhariya is having a power supply. Water: Open well nearby the lease area will provide the water for all the purposes. (vi) Soil classification. Soil may be defined as a thin layer of earth s crust, which serves as a natural medium for the growth of plants. The soil characteristics include both physical and chemical details. The soil

11 found in the region is in situ soil and found in consolidated form. The soil is brown to reddish in color, fine to very fine-grained having a thickness of 0.5to 1.0 m. (vii) Climatic data from secondary sources. The climate of this region is characterized by a hot summer and dryness in the non-rainy seasons. Climate in a year may be divided into four seasons. The cold season from December to February is followed by the hot season from March to May. The south west monsoon season is from June to September while the months of October and November form post monsoon season. The average annual rainfall for last five years in the district is 710 mm. Following table shows the month wise rainfall and departure for last five years. Planning Brief (i) Planning Concept (type of industries, facilities, Transportation etc.) Town and Country Planning/ Development authority Classification It is a mining industry in which open cast semi-mechanized mining method will be practiced. Present rate of production is 44,400 TPA. (ii) Population Projection There will be recruitment of local workers (6). There will be no change in the population projection of the most nearest & farther most villages of the project. There are a total of 29 villages in the buffer zone of the study area. As per Census of India the total population Chikhla population is 1172 with 223 household. Total male & female population is 604 & 568 respectively. 13 6. Proposed Infrastructure (i) Industrial Area (Processing Area). The area is very well connected by road network to the mines, District headquarter etc. The area is self sufficient to cater the needs of the project. Hence, no infrastructure is proposed. (ii) Green Belt. Green belt will be developed along the periphery of mines and backfilled area nos of plants will be planted during mine life in consultation with local forest office and CPCB guidelines. (iii) Social Infrastructure. Education Facilities: -For village schools, distribution of books for children are proposed. (iv) Connectivity (Traffic and Transportation Road/ Rail/Metro/Water ways etc) 500m. of kutcha road having width of 5mt. Then there is pucca road of 5mt width. No Railway, metro, water transportation is required. (v) Drinking Water Management (Source & Supply of water) Open well nearby the lease area will provide the water for all the purposes. (vi) Sewerage System. Domestic waste water will be directed to septic tank followed by soak pit which will be cleaned time to time. (viii) Industrial Waste Management. As there is no industrial waste, hence not applicable (ix) Solid Waste Management. As stated earlier, there will be no generation of waste in the area. Because no waste is generated even rubbles are also to the grinding unit. (x) Power Requirement & Supply / source. Electricity is available at a pressure of 440 Volts nearby the mining lease area from UGVCL. 7. Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R & R) Plan Policy to be adopted (Central/State) in respect of the project affected persons including home oustees, land oustees and landless laborers (a brief outline to be given). Not Applicable as there is any displacement or dislocation. 8. Project Schedule & Cost Estimates

14 Likely date of start of construction and likely date of completion (Time schedule for the project to be given). This is an operating lease working since Mine life is about 10 Years. 9. Analysis of proposal (Final Recommendations) Financial and social benefits with special emphasis on the benefit to the local people including tribal population, if any, in the area. The Project will bring economic benefits to the state by the way of royalty for mineral. The mining operations shall be providing employment to approximately 14 persons directly in the excavation. Most of the local people are likely to be benefited. This project operation will provide livelihood to the poorest section of the society. Mining is expected to have positive impact on socio-economic life of people living in nearby villages.
